There is a little known fact about God's Mercy, OR not, that is clearly in view in the scriptures.
Here is Paul's picture of himself. We might note that it's not just Paul.
2 Corinthians 12:7
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn
in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Only one of the parties above received God's Mercy. The other, toleration, but no mercy.
And God can deal with the adverse party in anyone, adversely, and will do so.
Paul paints the identical picture above in Romans 9:18-24, Romans 7:21, Romans 11:8, and again, in 2 Tim. 2:20-21,
all perfectly identical.
God will have His Mercy, OR not, as He Solely Determines.
Romans 9:18
Therefore
hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy,
and whom he will he hardeneth.
If we observe Paul, both sights are in view. On this basis legitimate fear of our Maker is a reality, if we see ourselves in the same light as Paul saw himself. And, in fact, seeing honestly IS the sight that His Mercy provides.
