you are supoused to live in honor and dignety

One can live honourably and with dignity, but whether one is honoured or treated with dignity depends on how others see one.

Remember, we live in a society that hates Christianity.

How about Honor and Integrity instead.

Dignity suggests that Pride is present, doesn't it?

Christianity is increasingly hated. Not to pity party but it’s rough in the Bible Belt because of the double speak. Lots of people hate The Good News but they pretend to respect Christianity because of tradition.

Yes they are. But not neccessarily one with dignity. We're called to be humble, not dignified.
dignity

dĭg′nĭ-tē

noun

  1. The quality or state of being worthy of esteem or respect.
  2. Inherent nobility and worth.
  3. Poise and self-respect.
Why can't a Christian live so that these qualities apply to his life?

Yeah, that's it. How many times does scripture say to us to be humble, humble ourselves before the world.
There's no scripture saying we must have self respect or to seek being an esteemed person in our community.

WHoever is exalted will be abased. Those who are abased will be exalted. That's in there. I believe it is an exercise in delayed gratification for us. And also teaches patience and perseverance. So it is ok to be humbled in front of others. If you'd like to rean an excellant example of being humble then pay attention to, Mother Mary's words. She is a very humble young lady!

A christian can't really apply dignity or respect to his life without being exalted, then Pride knocking on the door. He must increase. I must decrease. And not a lot of people show me respect so I must be doing something right, Lol! Who me? I am nobody...

Yes we are called to humility.

Yes we are called to humility.

Jesus was humble. Well, Jesus is humble and we are tasked with taking on His image and being exactly like He was while on earth. As we take on the Lord's image and character then when the Lord looks at us He should be able to see His reflection!

What you all fail to realise that respect or being esteemed is from others, because they see the quality of one life.
Living in a dignified manner is not pushing self forward or bragging about self.
A serving character does not have to be servile.
Having integrity does not mean being arrogant.

Look at Jesus, he was humble, but he had dignity, integrity, he was respected by the common people and we should be like Jesus.

Thank you for breaking it down. I understand what you mean now.

Integrity would mean more, not being arrogant, right?
I hope you don't think I was being arrogant.

Perhaps you may live quite nicely and I made you feel like I was saying that you have too much? I sure do not imply anything like that. Just saying what I know. WHen I was growing up, I heard those words bounced around a lot. Honor & Integrity. I don't remember it being honor & dignity though. I've learned from the Lord that humility and humbling yourself is what God wants us to do. Pretty much commanded, lol.

What you call dignified, I call blessings. Nothing wrong with being dignified at home like you say. You are blessed and that's a good thing and not a bad thing.
