Young adults, what do you want to do when you get older?

What I do doesn't matter to me so much as the impact I can make. I want to apply my talents and strengths however I can. I'm not really sure how that will translate yet though. I want to get into graphic design, so that's one thing.

Have to admit I feel rather directionless right now.
I felt that way for a long time too (years really) until one day (literally, in just one day) God gave me a new direction that was completely and totally unexpected! Actually, in hindsight, I realize God was trying to give me this direction for some time, but I wasn't listening close enough. Then in one day I realized what He was telling me and I was on my way the next morning.

I'm a full time college student, just kind of busy with school.
We have lots of full time college students working part time during school. If you already have or need a part time job while you're in school anyway you might want to look into it. Of course I certainly understand not wanting to have a job interfering with school if you don't need to work.

im there again. trust me. as I get more up in years. I see that I might be able to use my legs to make money. Im thinking but what new skill without loosing in pay. that an what after the national guard/

I have a sim(FSX, FS9). Forgot the last time I fired it up though.
Fixed wing is alright. Commercial or private/leisure? I was dreaming of getting a trike, but 4-cycle motor is a bit expensive and storage is a problem somewhat..wing is big.

No, I meant fixed wing RC scale models, like the helicopter in your picture, only airplanes instead! :yes Always wanted to fly a full scale, but never had the opportunity. Lots of times I thought maybe I could get one of those trikes too, but like you, money and storage is a problem.

Lately I've been flying FSX a lot more. It's cheaper than crashing a $500 real life RC model! :biggrin2 But I'm flying with a virtual airline with addon complex and more realistic planes (jetliners from companies like PMDG) as well as real live people flying the other planes and handling ATC around me. Really all FSX is doing anymore is providing the base scenery and some flight modeling. I even just finished setting up my own virtual copilot so I can give him verbal instructions and he will do things like switch lights, tune radios, handle flaps and gear, etc. without me having to punch keys or click the mouse on the screen.

Some of these guys that do this kind of simulation (especially around airports like LAX) are actually real life controllers and pilots that are practicing for advancement. It gets pretty realistic and intense sometimes, and they don't put up with too many mistakes either. (Say "Roger, cleared to land, runway 25R" and they will correct you and tell you that runway acknowledgement must be done by saying the word "right" or "left", not the letter "L" or "R". And if you make the mistake a 2nd time, some of 'em can get real testy!) But that's as close as I'll probably ever get to real world flying.

aah, I see. Ok. Hey, speaking of fixed wing...did a little flight this evening.
:rolleyes Single guys playing with toys. Umm, girls, don't mind us...
Anyways, not to derail the thread...I had quite a roller-coaster. First I wanted to be an electrician, then I wanted to be an army fighter pilot, then I got interested in filming industry and wanted to edit video for Hollywood, but that never materialized. After that I decided I want to take to the skies, but after reading some of the posts about pilots having it rough, I landed back down. This of course was happening over the years, but here I am today. Working in construction industry(fancy wording there) and weekend model flyer.

I still do filming and editing, but mostly for church only..I started filming baptism for our new church members. They were given a photo, "certificate" and flowers, so I figured I'd add something extra and leave them a motion-picture memory. Feels good doing something for people..here's work-in-progress:
