Your favorite Bible Version

I discovered the Contemporary English Version bible. I think it's the easiest to understand, written in simple conversational English (if you know what I mean).
Kindergarten Bible :D

But I use often the NKJV.
One of my mentors tells me NIV is good enough

My favored version is the NASB but I cmpare a good bit with the KJV, ASV, and the ISV. The MASB is, just about, the most accurate Word for Word translation of the scrolls I can purchase snd not speaking Hebrew, Aramaic, nor Koine Greek, I need as accurae a translation as I can readily purchase.

I like the KJV/NKJV partnered with Strong's concordance.

I have come to enjoy the English Standard Version (ESV) Study Edition. The study notes are very valuable and informative. The KJV has always been my standard. I use the ESV to teach in my counseling sessions.

I bought a Matthew Henry's commentary on the entire bible. I find it much easier to go online and read the commentary. I started the last week with the Beatitudes. I really like Matthew Henry. He goes straight to the meat of the matter.

Henry never finished his commentary after the book of acts his disciples or students finished it in his style.

when i was younger i always wanted to just sit and read the bible from beginning to end but reading the KJV was like trying to read gaelic so i kept putting it off until my wife got me a NIV study bible, i sat down and read it without any problems. after reading and studyin the NIV i had no issues going back to a KJV or geneva version.
now i like the ESV and Septuagint, although its very difficult to find good LXX translation. i dont agree with NIV translation but i think its a good starter bible.

I don't have an opinion on those. I rely on the KJV for my kind of studies. I'm sure that others can answer your question much better than any ignorant statement that I might throw out there. Dirt Bags don't know much.
