This is a question for the Americans on this board. Timothy and I got a pizza from Papa John's on Friday, and we were discussing the fact that they put their cheese on top of the toppings, rather than the toppings on top of the cheese. One of us thinks that that's just how they do it down here in Ga, and one of us thinks that's how they do it all over the country. So I figured that with people on here from various states it would be good to ask you all. Do Papa John's always put the cheese on top of their toppings, or is that just a southern thing? :)

I'm an Italian from the NYC area. I know nothing about any Papa John's. :shrug So... forgetaboutit! :screwloose

Well obviously we're not all blessed down here to have authentic Italian pizza...which is probably how this discussion was started in the first place :nag :lol

Thanks for the response you two, hopefully more will chime in soon! :thumb

Miss??!! Who say's I'm going to miss ANYTHING about this state when we finally get to leave? I hate this weather!

say again, i grow up on the authentic thing in Fl. and yes papa johns do put cheese on the toppings, but i think they are crappy.

Man, I don't even think we have a Papa John's in the entire state of Connecticut. Being next to NY we have lots of pizza places, but no chains, except one. The place I go to puts cheese on top and bottom.

Mmmm, I bet your pizzas are better there since they're not chains. :)
visit me in vero and we have small italian restaurants that make good pizza! my favorite on marriatas.

but the best ever was patrick's pizza but they closed in the late 80's :verysad

We have Papa John's but it's been a while since I ate there last so I cannot really say how they make it.

Okay. I'm going to pick up my homework, which should be ready in 15 minutes. :biggrin I'll try and remember to take pictures but I'm awfully hungry so it may not be around long enough. If I forget how they made it, would "I ate my homework" be a good enough excuse?

Yes, pizza definitely deserves it's own topic! We have Papa John's in Michigan, but we never buy from there, so I can't help you. But, I had to chime in if only to dispute the NY delegate. Again, NY pizza is over-rated!

Actually, since Mike Ilitch owns Little Caesars as well as the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, I guess we're supposed to eat that. But it's awful! :verysick It's worse than NY pizza :verysick :lol :lol It's like frozen pizza from the 80's. Cardboard with stuff on top!

If I have to buy pizza from a chain around here, I guess I'll go with Jet's. Jet's square is tolerable.

Pizza... Chicago, Chicago! :sing

Okay, assignment completed! Yeah, that was good. See if this looks familiar:

The garlic butter sauce and pepperoncini were sooooo good.

Here in Tn they put it on top, too. PJs is my favorite pizza but I bet I'd love the old pizza places in NY. I guess you can't miss what you've never had.. ;)

That's exactly how it looks down here too, so I guess our "discussion" is over :thumb

And yes, we are deprived down here in the south of good authentic pizza. But, have any of you Southerners ever heard of Mellow Mushroom? I had them about 10 years ago and thought they were really good, but it's been so long now I can't remember.
