Yes, I believe Jesus ascended as a Man...the God/Man.

He has the same body He laid down in the grave, though it is now glorified. That doesn't mean it isn't the same body. It is a body of flesh and bone, lacking the blood.

At the right hand of God sits a Man, Jesus Christ. He is a certain height, and weight. A Man Who is the God/Man.

I'm not one to hang onto every word....
But we'd need to understand what you mean by flesh and bone except the blood.
You do say the body would be glorified at the resurrection.
What do you think this means?

I believe that others will know us...we will have a body...we will be a certain weight and height...
we will be male or female.

But it won't be the body we have now or what would glorified mean?
It must mean something different.

It doesn't matter how many dead bodies have turned to dust, have been burned away to nothing, have been eaten by wild beasts. God is able to bring back that body and resurrect it.

I don't agree with you because you deny the resurrection, any resurrection. What you propose is not a resurrection.

Quantrill
Where did I ever say I denied the resurrection. Please do not read into something that is not there. Go back and read my post #234. I've stated even with scripture that none of us knows what we will look like in the resurrection. If Martha and the disciples did not recognize Him at first then Jesus must have looked different in His glorified body. If we are to be like Him in our new resurrected bodies we might also look different.

I already gave the scriptures for this so no need to repeat them again.

Quantrill,
In the post I was replying to (no. 229) you said this:

I didn't say those who believe are not His sheep. (John 3:16) says whosoever believes receives eternal life. I agree. But Jesus is clear in (John 10:26) that one must be His sheep in order to believe. In other words, one must be lost. Must have been God's possession before.

I'm sorry, I see now that I misunderstood you.
Been posting to some calvinists lately and I just thought you got the
ordo salutis backwards (like calvinists do). But I see that you meant it the right way.

No problem. I do it all the time. Especially when I am talking to many and the many are only talking to me.

Jesus was clear that His resurrected body was flesh and bone. (Luke 24:39) No blood for two reasons. The life of the flesh is in the blood in our earthly life. (Lev. 17:11) But in our resurrected bodies, the life of the flesh is the Spirit. And know that concerning Christ's blood, He presented it in the true Tabernacle in Heaven. (Heb. 9:12)

When God resurrects our body it will be a sinless body and fitted for His presence and Heaven. It will be the same body, but glorified. It won't be 'another' body.

If it is not the same body, then how can it be a resurrection? Adam and Eve were in the same body after the fall. But it was now defiled with sin. Same body.

wondering

I want to make a correction in my post #(236). I meant to say 'I disagree with your conclusion that we won't look like ourselves in the resurrection". Whether I understood you correctly or not, that is what I meant to say. For that is what I thought you were/are saying.

Oh the value of proof reading after posting.

Scripture makes it very clear what our resurrection will be like, 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 John 3:2-3.

What is your view of our resurrection as all I can goby are these scriptures. Am I missing something?

I believe all those Scriptures also.

But, you and I can look at the same Scripture and see a totally different picture.

I believe my post #(244) explains what I was concerned with.

I agree with your post #244, but yet we have no idea what our new glorified body will look like or even if we will recognize each other in the New Jerusalem. Mary thought Him to be the gardener and the disciple thought He was a spirit. What does that say about what we will appear like as we will be like Jesus when we see Him return.

No, my understanding is that we WILL look like ourselves and others will recognize us.
So, actually, we do agree on this.
No problem....
:)

I think we're close enough that we don't need to debate this...
who can be absolutely sure anyway?
We have scripture to go by but it doesn't really explain a lot....
I think of the transfiguration and believe it'll be like that.
It'll be the same body, but better.

Thanks for bringing attention to the better tabernacle in heaven in Hebrews 9.12.
(concerning Christ's blood). The better sacrifice.

Sounds good. And you're quite welcome.

Then please explain what Christ and our resurrection is? All I can go by is what is written in the scriptures.

Resurrection is the resurrecting of the same body we have. Just like Christ's resurrection was the same body that hung on the cross and died.

Just like Christ's body, ours too will be flesh and bone. No blood. The life principle now being the Spirit.

You will look like you and I will look like me, only without sin and glorified. Just like Christ.

What all 'glorified' entails, I do not know. But it certainly doesn't mean I won't look like me.

It's just another one of those things that we can not know until it happens. I do agree with the flesh and bone part as in what Jesus was glorified in as He showed Himself to many before ascending up to sit at the right hand of the Father.
