Proverbs describes the difference between Wisdom and the Adulteress

Proverbs 7:1-5 My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call understanding your kinsman; they will keep you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words.

God is literally saying have his commands the apple and not the fruit the devil tempted Eve with.

Proverbs is talking about the literal adulteress, but mainly the Spiritual adulteress

Take a look through Proverbs and see how men with either follow Wisdom or the adulteress.

The fool will read the scriptures and think he is only wise.

The wise will read the scriptures and see himself as the fool.

The wise understand that they are bound together with the fool.

1 Corinthians 3:18
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

The wise will see that both the wise and the fool are bound, together.
The wise will see that the "rich and the poor" are in the same set of shoes.
The wise will see that the "elder and the younger" are born in the same womb.
The wise will see the living and the dead walk, together, as themselves.
The wise will see that EVERY WORD of God is to be personally applied, even the bad and dire Words.

The wise will read both aspects of every parable, and understand that both aspects apply to themselves. The fool will read that his house is only built on the rock, and not understand that his house is also built on sinking sand.

The fool will read the parable of the sheep and the goats, and only think themselves to be a sheep.

The wise will understand that both sheepworks and goatworks transpire with themselves.

The Wise will live by every Word of God. The fool reads only the good Words of God to themselves, and ignores ALL the other Words of God, making them apply to someone else.

Proverbs 4:5-9 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor."

Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed they eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'

There is a point in our walk with God, where we are to get wise in the things of God. There is a worldly wise and a wisdom that comes from above and we need to be wise about those things. A worldly wise will fall for the adulteress.

Solomon was speaking to the Wisdom of God and not wisdom of the world.

Eve = Adulteress = Devil
Where in the world did you come up with this bizarre connection? Eve was never an adulteress and certainly not the Devil. Why are so many bizarre ideas floating around among Christians? Another bizarre idea being batted around is that Adam and Eve had navels. How in the world could they have navels when they were both direct creations of God?

Genesis 2:17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Genesis 3:4-6 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.

So, here is the connection to the adulteress..........

Eve, then takes the fruit and gave some to her husband and they both died.

Proverbs 2:16 It will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words, who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God. For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead. None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.

Eve ignored God's words and believed the devil's lies. "ignored the covenant" and the path was death.

I'm not saying Eve is the devil, but the connection between the devil and the adulteress and Eve is intertwined. Really sorry if it is projected that way.

Ephesians 5:23-24 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Adding in here, that Wisdom submits to Christ. The opposite happened in the garden with Eve. She followed the devil's suggestion.

Depends entirely on which camp one is in. There are non-Umbilicists, pre-Umbilicists, mid-Umbilicists and post-Umbilicists. I kid you not. And heresy bombs abundant, all around to each others in this circle as well.

We know that both Adam and Eve were "formed" by God, but we are NOT advised as to "particularly how" that transpired. I might even think if they bore the unusual feature of NOT having a navel, it may have been recorded, but it's not. I personally don't think God Himself is 'bound' to natural laws whatsoever.

If God raised up stones to be children of Abraham, would they have navels? Who's to say, but the Creator?

Matthew 3:9
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Let the navel debate take it's victims along with the debaters of how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

It can be easily seen that Eve, the inner man of Adam, was deceived. That is a Spiritual Picture. It is all in the impressions that one takes from the events. The natural man can't know his internal deceptions, because he is clueless about his internal deceptions and can not perceive the Spiritual matters of God in Christ. Acts 26:18, 1 Cor. 2:15, 2 Cor. 4:4

This just a friendly reminder of a few rules governing this unique forum from Obadiah's sticky thread.

  • Subsequent responses either opposing or adding additional information should include references to specific supportive scripture relevant to the thread and offer explanation of the member's understanding of how that scripture applies.
  • Opinions are plenty and have little value so please do not state positions that have no basis in scripture.
  • Do not use phrases such as, “You’re wrong.” This is insulting and inappropriate and there are nicer ways to disagree without being insulting.

I'm not implying agreement or disagreement with anyone, but it would be good to observe the rules from the beginning.

Thanks.

This might even be getting too deep for me. There are physical women (including myself), are we the inner man? Are we a gauge to what society does? I'm trying to see the gender importance here, cause I think it matters. God didn't say wisdom is male, he said "her" and "she".

Proverbs 1:20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares
Proverbs 3:13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver
Proverbs 4:6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you
Proverbs 8:1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
Proverbs 8:11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her
Proverbs 9:1 Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out its seven pillars.

There is some wonderful Spiritual meat to chew on, with Wisdom submitting to Christ and literal women. I'm a woman and I'm giving a glance into what it is like to submit to the right kind of authority. I'm open to other's input and I'm trying to understand if you are saying the literal woman and inner man are metaphorically the same?

There are many commands in the bible. However Jesus sums up all the commands in Matthew 22:37-40 and John 13:34-35.
It is impossible for any Christian to keep these commands in their own strength. This is why a Christian faith must be exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., finished work of Christ, i.e., the Blood of Jesus. Why? Because the Holy Spirit only works in this perimeter to help us. And He alone will keep those commandments through you. Remember Jesus says, "Apart from me you can do nothing," John 15:5. The reason Jesus tells us to carry our Cross daily is to receive the benefits the Cross has. Those benefits include; wisdom - knowledge - and understanding, deliverance, healing, sanctification, eternal life, prosperity, joy, a new house, a new car, a husband, a wife, and all the promises in the bible.

What cancels this is when the Believer is living between two Kingdoms. The scripture says, "On purpose, intentionally, God will make sure things do not work out in your life. 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 NASB, James 1:5-8 NASB, James 4:4 NASB

John 14:21 Amplified Bible (AMP)

21 The person who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him [I will make Myself real to him].”

Are the men of the church the bride of Christ? Tagging flesh gender/genealogy notions to scripture dissections is generally not beneficial sight. 2 Cor. 5:16, Titus 3:9.

Uh, no. What happened to Eve IS an allegory.

But she was a real genuine woman, the flesh mother of all of us, who was in the Garden and had internal deception transpire that was of the deceiver. The latter part must be understood allegorically because there is no character to lay sights on, yet that deceiver is also real.

It's no different than Paul using Hagar an an allegory of bondage in the flesh, the old or first covenant in Gal. 4. Does that mean Hagar was that covenant? Uh, no. She was a real woman that is "used" to show an allegory.

Female is a piece of the male, separated from the male and yet meant to be joined to the male. And this appears to be an intimate allegory for God and His creation. Colossians 1:16.

Male and female seem to be two opposing spiritual perspectives of experience in a flesh and blood existence. They each have their own unique wisdom due to their separate experiences of the other, in their own subjective views. But I believe they exist because there is an even greater wisdom that is to be gleaned when both are held together in the objective point of view. It reminds me of the two opposing perspectives of spiritual and heavenly things represented by the two Cherubim upon the ark of the covenant. Hebrews 9:5.

Within these two perspectives, the words life, faith, Grace, hope, Love, mercy, understanding, patience, all gain their meaning in working from both ends towards the middle. True wisdom is there, where what is Eternal is able to be comprehended from a temporal existence.

Likewise what could be called an adulteress and an adulterer is there, although I don't believe they are intended to be taken personally. And what is death, betrayal, unbelief, iniquity, sin, selfishness, all that is vanity, also is on display working both ends against the middle.
Here is the source of semantic confusion and division, where words that are meant to mean something good, can and do also mean something bad according to one's perspective.

Consequently, with true wisdom, God can tell through the words a person uses and it's connotation, whether they are gathering with Christ or scattering against Christ. Again, I don't think it's meant to be personal, but for the purpose of comprehending the Eternal.

I'm not saying Eve is the devil, but the connection between the devil and the adulteress and Eve is intertwined. Really sorry if it is projected that way.
The only problem is that spiritual *adultery* is connected with idolatry, not plain disobedience. So Eve was by no means an *adulteress*.

You've raised a good point. This causes me to think that the serpent proposed that God was a liar, which is a false imagery of god, which is idolatry. So what about that?

LovethroughDove I can see how you equate Eve with that of adultery. She became an adulteress by that of Satan using the serpent to deceive her as the fruit being pleasant to her. It's the same as Israel falling into idolatry as they left Gods commandments and followed after Judaism. For that matter even today as many desire the desires of the flesh as they no longer follow the commandments of God.

Adultery is not only in sexual physical form of cheating on your husband or wife, but is also spiritual as in seeking after other gods making them your idol as seen in Israels idolatry, Judges 2:11-17. Adultery is described graphically in Ezekiel Chapter 16. It's symbolized in Hosea's wedding, Hosea 1:1-3 and symbolized in final desertion of faith which is Christ Jesus, Rev 17:1-5. Adultery is figurative of friendship with the world, James 4:4 and figurative of false teaching.Rev 2:14,15; 20:22.

This is why so many times God uses the word she as in reference to those who have fallen into idolatry as they are deceived and without truth of what God already spoke. Eve not only sinned against God, but also enticed Adam to eat causing him to sin. The husband is to be the spiritual head of his wife just as Christ is the head of His Church, but when the spiritual head loses his place then he becomes an idolater to the world.

How about Eve was not Adam's first wife, she was his second wife?

Why do you say that when we pick up our cross and follow Jesus he will give us a new house, new car, a husband or wife? If that were true all of us who are in Christ and He in us would have a new house and a new car, but I have yet to see any of us receiving these things from God as these are material things we work for. When we pick up our cross we are following in the footsteps of Christ being obedient to His commands. Wisdom, knowledge and understanding are part of the seven spirits of God given to the seven Churches in Rev that makes up all of us being the body of Christ, Isaiah 11:2. Deliverance, healing, sanctification, eternal life are the promises of the cross through that of Christ Jesus. Adam and Eve could have had all the pleasures of the garden God if they would have been obedient to His commands.
