wow I look twice a day sometimes 3 times a day and here we have two pages I never saw this thread. should I shoot my computer?
If I use my 9mm it might misfire I may have to use something bigger; or if I use my 22 I may can save my computer.
Just slap it upside its CPU and call it a day....

I don't understand your second sentence...
And re the 22 - don't you have to hit just the right spot or it doesn't stop the person?

Oh, sorry. A 22 can be a reasonable choice for defense for petite ladies who can't handle the recoil of bigger guns, or the infirm. Plus, especially nowadays, being able to afford to buy enough ammo to practice enough to get real good with a center fire pistol is hard for many folks. But 22 ammo is still pretty cheap compared to bigger ammo and let's them practice enough to be able to get to a dangerous level of competence with it. A hit with a 22 is better than a miss with a 45!

And realistically, most punk type criminals will not want to continue to attack you if you shoot them with anything, even a 22.
Yeah, I know, what if they're all pumped up on meth or something and it dont stop them. I guess that's true to a small extent, but I bet 95% of the punks would break off the attack if they got shot. People go down easy for the most part.

OK. Interesting. I understand.
How much is ammo anyway?
Could you compare it for the 45 and the 22.
How many shots does it take before one is reasonably acquainted with a gun?
Must be hundreds...

Wondering

This is fairly significant here. A man's cloak back then was very important. Their protection from the elements. You gotta have a cloak...and yet, have a sword first.
The cloak was also used as a pillow when travelling.

That's not in the Bible.
Stick to the facts please.
It may not be in your Bible I found it here
Luke 22:35-36
35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

OK. Interesting. I understand.

some states require gun safety classes if you have not been in Military that would be ideal for someone that has not shot much; once you learn gun safety the one can shoot safely. I was in Air Force so I did not need the class I took it anyway (4 hour ) and I liked it so I took a 12 hour class in guns. of course I
grew up in the woods so I was use to guns.

.22s do come in a Magnum load, so maybe you can have the best of all worlds. .22 Magnum on the left, the noticeably smaller .22 Long Rifle cartridge on the right (I know of a former Navy SEAL who conceal carries .22WMR):

These are good questions. Cheap range ammo is bouncing around 30 or 40 dollars a box I think (50 rounds) and premium self defense ammo is like, 25-35 bucks for 20 rounds. (Other posters can tell me how accurate I am on these prices right now, it's been so long since I bought any because I reload that I may be a wee bit off)

And 22 ammo is about 8 bucks per hundred (CCI MINI-MAGS).

I can load 50 rounds of 45acp for a little over 2 bucks.

I can load 50 rounds of bear stomping 44 Mags for about 4 bucks a box. (50)
Factory 44 Mags are bouncing around a dollar a piece!

You're right. To get reasonably well acquainted with a new gun takes several hundred rounds. More to get better with it.

another good pistol is the keltec 32 I got one it is thin and light easy to carry and tad better stopping power than 22

I remember reading an account of some female soldier/agent? girl who got surprised by some Taliban, it was either 5 or 7 of them (forget) but she killed them all...with a Ruger MK II 22 pistol.

So yeah, a 22 in the hands of a cool headed person is very deadly.

Some thoughtful consideration is in order if one chooses a 22 pistol. Ammo selection is one thing. With a 22, penetration is your friend. So high velocity ammo is best, and solid bullets are better than hollow points because you'll need to penetrate heavy clothing, rib cage, or skull. I like CCI mini mag solids.

Barrel length is also a consideration. You won't get the high velocities from short short barrels. I'd like at least a 4 or 5 inch barrel.

When I used to carry one of those 22 mini revolvers, (like shown in the pics above) the plan was...if I ever had to use it, I'd try to press the barrel up against the attackers body so they'd get that big ball of expanding gases too.

As I said, if the Lord said take your gat, you take the gat.
mine goes where I go, when a gunman scams his way in or breaks into your house or car a gun will save your wife son or daughters life. did you not hear about the 9 Christians shot in Church recently it can happen to anyone anywhere.
God does not save the life of every Christian every day every where; That not to say he does not save lives, he does He saved my life for sure at least once maybe more. That is why I put in v35 in my post God protected them when he sent them out the first time with very little. But he told them to buy a sword, why so they could protect their self; meaning he would not be watching over them every single minute of every day every where they went.

I don't get the post. God said He would never leave or forsake you, never slumbers and no weapon formed against us can prosper. He has never failed to protect anyone that believed in His word.

Jesus also sent the out saying carry nothing. Being led is the key to protection, not the gun.

Mike.

you dont get the post ?; have any Christians been killed(life cut short) in the past year that could have been saved or was there no way to save the Christians that have been killed this past year. by your post;; those 9 killed in a church a few weeks ago must not have believed or God would have saved them; is that right?
