I'm concentrating on love, because I am still praying for my heart to be filled with love.

I notice that in Galations 5 the fruit of the spirit is described. The first thing mentioned is love.

Galations 5:22,23 NKJV
22. But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23. gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

And the first word to describe love in 1 Corinthians 13:4 ESV is 'patient'

Love is patient and kind, does not envy or boast

In what ways do we sometimes fail to be patient? Of a person tells you the same thing over and over again every time you are with them do we ever think 'not again'? Are we ever ride enough to say "you tell me that all the time." without wondering why? Do we lose patience sometimes with mental illness? Do we tell a depressed person to "to pull yourself out of it"? They would love to be able to.

Do we lose patience with our children, waiting for an answer to prayer, even waiting for public transport or driving in a traffic jam? Perhaps being ill (patience of Job), or perhaps with a person who is ill.

We can all think of dozens of situations where we can practice patience.

At the moment I am needing a lot of patience, so I guess I am lucky, because I can practice it all the time.☺

Luke 21:19 NKJV
By your patience possess your soul.

God has such patience with us all and I pray that we all are given the gift of this fruit of the Holy Spirit

God Bless

Loving as God loves is difficult. No, it's impossible. But with the Spirit leading the way, we can love well.

Learning to trust God, and leaning in. Letting God's strength be our strength. This is my focus as well.

What a great post.

You know, maybe, what let's us have patience? Knowing that those who do not love God are being led by the enemy. They are being led astry and do not have the spirit of God. They are not to be hated but to be pitied. I feel sorry for those who don't know God. So in this way I find it easy to have patience with them.

As for all those other things you said, yeah, right on sister. I hear the same story from my Aunt all the time. She's 90 now. I think that one day I'll be doing the same thing, so I let her talk and nod yes all the time. They have no new experiences so they talk about the old ones, and those they like the best or the least.

When we get to heaven hope will no longer be necessary. Faith will no longer be necessary because God will be in our presence. But LOVE endureth forever. Love will exist even in heaven.

More on patience.
If we are indeed so close to the tribulation, we are going to need a massive amount of patience. It's not always easy to have but we have to have it.

James 5: 7-11 NKJV

7. Therefore be patient, bbrethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.

8. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, fir the coming of the Lord is at hand.

9. Do not grumble against one another, brethren , lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

10. My brethren, take the prophet's, who spoke on the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.

11. Indeed we count them blessed who ensure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord - that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

Revelation 13:10 NKJV

10. He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills withe the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Revelation 14:12 NKJV

12. Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Yes, but don't express it.

Well I personally try to love everybody, even the ones that I don't get along with and pray for them. Just because I want to live the life that Jesus wants me to live. After all, He gave His life for me so it's the least I can do to try and repay Him. :cross

My morning verse:

'See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. '
1 Thessalonians 5:15

ESV: 15 See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.

Wow. That's a tall order. All people. Only with God is this possible. God, teach me to seek the good of all others, not just those who love me, but also those who are not kind or even those who have wronged me or my family. Help me to see others as YOU see them!

Ephesians 6:10-20

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Our enemies aren't flesh and blood. I have to remind myself that sometimes when in the face of the evil done in the world. But each item Paul touches on to stand firm is a good illustration for what we need to do. Often a needed reminder because at least one of these is lacking in our efforts (or at least in mine).

Standing firm because of holding to the truth; striving for rightousness or even relying on the rightousness of Jesus in your life; and being ready because of the gospel. Protect ourselves from the evil one by our faith, our salvation, and the word of God. And keep on praying.

In my morning devotions I am running across some very excellent Verses I'd like to share. Let this thread be about that. Share your daily verse or verses (in context). Just one per day and not a whole list of them. Make a pithy comment and let the Spirit speak to the reader.

'Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ' 1 John 4:7-11 https://www.bible.com/bible/59/1JN.4.7-11

God's love for us is foundational to our faith. It's not that we loved Him, but that He first loved us. For God is love. May this truth cover you today. God is the source, the well of love. Drink deeply from the well.

May your day be blessed in Him and may you shine before all with whom God brings you into contact. Have a blessed day.

~Papa
This below is a bit late, but I'm encouraged to join in and thanks:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: Ephesians 4:13

BTW friends, I read every word that's posted and ponder the things you are sharing. I know others do as well. I find your participation encouraging and the verses you share both instructive and meaningful to my walk with the Lord.

Thank you! I really enjoy participating in it. :) I just wish that I could post more than one verse per day. I have so many that I like that sometimes it really is hard to narrow it down to just one lol. :lol

Me too. But people like bite size pieces (at least I do) to chew on and contemplate. Plus, if we can grow this place and many people share, we'll have plenty of verses!

Alright, so as most of you on here are already aware of, I had a very interesting night last night. I read in the news about how a two year old boy was murdered and it made me so upset and angry about all of the evil in the world today, and how somebody that was supposed to watching out for the boy and as his father, loving and caring for him more than anybody else. I started saying hateful things about him and that he should burn in Hell for all of eternity for what he had done. After all, that's what he deserved wasn't it? And that's when suddenly it hit me is even though most of us if not all of us on here haven't murdered anybody we are all still sinners and we deserve the punishment of Hell as well. However that's when somebody brought this verse that I'm going to share with you today to my attention. It is the shortest verse in the whole entire Bible found in John chapter eleven verse 35;

"Jesus Wept."

It suddenly occurred to me after reading an article that that said member posted was that there was a lot more to that verse than Jesus crying over the fact that His friend Lazarus was dead. Jesus might have been the Son of God but He was also a human being like everybody else. That means that whenever we feel pain, He understands our suffering. For like any human being would have been, I don't think He was very eager to die on the cross like that especially when He hadn't done anything wrong. However He loved us and He knew that it had be done so we could earn His forgiveness and someday join Him in Heaven. So anyway, I think that is what it truly means to put God first. Remember that forgiveness and repentance is essential to living a Christian life and always living our lives the way that Christ would have.
