That sunshine will make you happy :) and rain will make you sad? :sad Because a lot of the time the weather seems to predict whether or not I will have a good day or bad day. Just to let you know it's currently raining and I've had a pretty bad day so far.

Think about it this way. Seasonal Depression is a real thing, usually affecting those during times of the year where sunlight is very little (usually the winter or in super cloudy, little sunshine states). Also, if it is darker out it can make us feel tired.

The sun provides Vitamin D, which many are deficient in. Vitamin D helps fight off many illness, keeps depression away, helps regulate cortisol, and keeps melatonin (sleepy hormones) down while it is hitting our skin directly. Actually, the sun is meant to wake people up because it decreases your melatonin and stimulates cortisol. Now a days many of us have adrenal fatigue (when cortisol levels are off) or severe addisons (when cortisol is no longer able to be produced by the adrenals).

So yes, it is a thing. Less Vitamin D makes people more prone to depression and other illnesses. If you have a depressed outlook on the day it can make the day feel terrible for you.

Vitamin D supplements are widely available, and salmon is an excellent source when sunlight is not widely available.

Only youngsters can make vitamin D efficiently from sunlight. The RDA for vitamin D in pill form or from food is twice as much for the elderly, since most elderly can't make much D anymore from sunlight.

Children do have the best absorption from the sun, but adults also can absorb Vitamin D through the skin. 15 minutes a day on our arms is really all you need.

While the elderly do need more sunlight for Vitamin D, they can still get sun, use supplements, and eat food rich with Vitamin D. However, the health benefits are still worth it.

So true! This is why it bothers me I haven't been out only once or twice in the past month. Plenty of sunshine, but too hot to be out in it.

How hot does it get where you are? I was outside most of the day today and it's like somewhere in the eighties out there. That's why I typically carry a water bottle to stay hydrated. :yes

Right now it is 106 and it is expected to spike to 108. Although it is cooler than the 3 days we had this week of 118. If we go out, we need to bring at least 1 gallon that we can fill up. You need to make sure to eat, too. Food isn't enough.

Our little car does not cool down well even though we have had the AC checked multiple times and they say there is nothing wrong. If it is 96 degrees out, it works fine and gets bone chilling cold. In 105 degree weather or more, forget it.

It isn't safe in my opinion to take the kids out as hot as it gets especially since they have padded car seats that don't make anything better. We have tried bags of ice and ice packs in their seats...it doesn't work long.

People sometimes say, "Oh, but it is cooler at night!"

A few nights this week it never got below 99 degrees. The other day it was 106 at 11 am. The sun rays are usually very high or extreme so it feels like you are getting cooked. It burns on skin that is not covered.

Oh I know what state you live in. I have an old work buddy living there and we talk sometimes...(He works on air conditioning too) and he was quoting those same numbers too me a couple days ago, lol

Your car a/c don't work when it gets that hot out cuz your car is gaining heat faster than those poor little coils can expel it.

Yeah...pretty awful stuff...glad we won't be here much longer!

I feel for your buddy. AC gets paid well, I hear, but it sounds like torture being in that heat all day.

It is! He was telling me how he had to spend time in a customers attic in that heat! Said he almost passed out. It must've been 120-130 in that attic easy...

I remember when we lived with someone out here and they had to get into that attic crawlspace to fix the AC. They tried to get started as early as possible, but really, it hears fast. Felt terrible for them. I appreciate what they do!

We also met someone that did roofing and they said you would not believe how fast heat stroke can set in. They had a few heat strokes where they blacked out. Scary stuff.
