I was just wondering a few questions about it. :chin

1. About how many thoughts do you think that you have in a day?

2. Are you always thinking (and having thoughts) even when you don't think that you're thinking?

3. If you are having disturbing and stressful thoughts, can that impact your body at all?

1. More than I am even aware of. The brain is very busy.

2. Yes (subconscious thoughts)

3. Absolutely. Stress alters your mind and body's response. It puts you in a fight or flight mode. Too long in this state is damaging to the mind and body.

You know I just literally discovered this as well. There is a HUGE difference between positive and negative thinking on my body. I can't really put my finger on what it is but my body definitely feels better when I'm think positively. :biggrin

One of the advantages of the rosary is that repetition of praise to God will gradually push away your petty concerns and let you focus on just being with Him. When I was a child, I couldn't imagine why they were having me do that; it seemed pointless. And then as time went on, I realized that when I left off the praying and went back to everyday things, I was so much less stressed and impatient.

It's not anything special about the Rosary. Eastern Orthodox monks would chose a phrase or series of phrases to God, and repeat them over and over until their other concerns were gone and they were open to Him completely.

Quiet contemplation and prayer have a very good effect on stress.

I had one more question about the brain, why is it that sometimes it creates false memories?

Oh that's a big question.

We remember things as we want to believe that they happened instead of what really happened.
Eyewitnesses are horribly unreliable to events...they are way too emotional for critical analysis.

Let's just say that I would be a horrible eyewitness for a crime.

I wouldn't ,I would simply state what I saw did .done it.never was called to testify .one was a deceased baby who I tried to saverify but after the fire medis came,he was long dead, sids.

That ,I couldn't react bothered me.it wasn't a crime but a sad case of sids.

They also are not the best evidence in trial cases.
Everyone sees something different, people look alike and the wrong person may be indicted; people can't remember events accurately although they think they do.
etc.

It forces us to stop. It forces us to quiet down. It forces us to be patient.

I must admit that a few years ago I was having a difficult time sleeping and I'd recite the rosary so I could stop thinking about things. So your analysis is quite correct.

I have to admit, however, that even though I attend the catholic church at times now, and must say the rosary when going to a funeral --- I do believe it's not a good way to pray; although Catholics believe it's the prayer that satan is most afraid of. I don't know why.

People are amazing creatures. Our brains function in ways to help us survive, and maintain sanity.

Most of our brain activity we're not even aware of :mouthdrop

And a lot of stuff that happens in my brain I know about it but I have absolutely no idea why it's there. :lol
