Yeah, he is probably getting laid off this week. Everyone there is in a panic.

I'm much more accustomed to layoffs than most due to my career. I've seen the Gambit of reactions on jobs coming to an end. I'm the one outlyer. I receive it with gladness and joy because it's a vacation. (I have a layoff fund I self fund at the start of every job)

But Jeff doesn't...most people don't. They have stable careers at the same company. My FIL got laid off after 25 years with the same guys at the same company. Now there's a new company and they all are showing back up trickling in from their interim jobs. But it was difficult for him to make a transition. Very difficult.
 
Well JohnDB , I didn't really want my employer known... But ohwell Lol.

Nobody really knows "when", but we highly suspect next week. Regardless, there are about 7,000 white collar workers, mostly from Michigan that will get their walking papers. Blue collar ( plant workers) are about 4,000 but most of them will have the option to relocate.

I think most, including myself are starting to feel a sigh of relief that the cuts hopefully are coming next week. I can't describe the stress people are going through and we've been going through this for almost 3 months.

Thank you. Almost everyone I know that works here is full of uncertainty from the college new hires, senior members and yes, even my manager (who is super awesome).

It's the uncertainty that is driving unproductivity and demotivation.

I know He is looking after me, He always does and He always will. He promised us that...

I like what I do, and I don't want to find a new job, but I know that the real work is doing God's work, and I can do that anywhere I'm at.

My house is in order as well as my finances and my wife and I have accepted this potential change. Its not my choice if I get cut or if I stay. Regardless, I feel blessed to have done so well in my life. I've achieved more than I deserve. If I get cut, I'll speak more on this but for now, I'll not make it public.
 
Umm... just what exactly does GM stand for? Does it have anything to do with the current government shutdown? Anyways Jeff always praying for you. :) I'm guessing that you probably know already what I'm going to say but I'm going to say it anyway. A bunch of prayers, hugs, and Christian love headed your way,.. incoming! :hug

General mess,add the c it's got mechanic comming,general mess of crap,government motors corp.but it stands for ,really general motors


I have made a few dollars from fixing them.

Thanks for explaining that to me, but Jason already answered my question for me. :) Btw, everybody around here must really like my catchphrase because every time I say it I get a like. :lol
 
According to the Detroit Free Press, cuts will start on Monday. They are calling it black Monday and 4000 white collar jobs are expected to be eliminated.

Well the good news is that journalists are frequently wrong. ;) Praying for you and your family, brother, that you are safe from this cut. Or at the very least, that you get the news soon because I'm sure the extended uncertainty hasn't been fun.

It's the uncertainty that's the biggest anxiety machine. There have been so many rumors the past couple months I've stopped listening to them. However, when the Freepress prints something, it's a sure bet they are right.
I'm not hoping to loose my job, but if I do I think I'll take a hefty pay cut and get out of Information Technology. My wife and I have had a few months to ponder and prepare for this. I have options.
