Do you consume energy drinks on a regular basis ?

They are being marketed to kids, who don't actually need it, and in some instances it is killing them. Others are having narrow misses.

This one shows how some companies are specifically targeting energy drinks to very young children, and I can guarantee you something is wrong with that.

And you wanna know WHY? This is where it gets creepy, but I sensed this so I looked it up. Caffeine consumption together with high levels of Taurine stunts brain development.

This is a physicians article so most of it is purely for the medical field, but I will highlight a few of the more telling statements, all of which are based on actual case studies.

Since adolescents are the main consumers of EDs (Seifert et al., 2011; Gallimberti et al., 2013) serious concerns have been raised about the detrimental effects of EDs consumption on key brain neurodevelopmental processes... dysfunction of purinergic signaling by caffeine overconsumption might impair brain development leading to deleterious effects, varying from mild cognitive impairment to severe neurological or psychiatric conditions (Silva et al., 2013; Al-Basher et al., 2018; Serdar et al., 2019; Zhang et al., 2020, 2022; Christensen et al., 2021; Agarwal et al., 2022)... A recent preclinical study showed the adverse effects of supplemental taurine consumption during adolescence and early adulthood on learning and memory function (Brown et al., 2020).

Lab studies on wild mice have proven this out as well, though they don't have a full handle on why yet. But examination is proving that it weakens the blood-brain barrier.

Previous studies show detrimental effects of energy drink consumption on brain function. Diaz et al. demonstrated in rats, substantial inflammation and oxidative stress within the hippocampus and temporal cortex following the intake of energy drinks (34). Furthermore, the ingestion of energy drinks resulted in neurodegeneration and astrocytosis in hippocampal CA1 and dentate gyrus regions of adult rats (29). However, the mechanisms whereby energy drink consumption compromises cerebral function and integrity are presently unknown.
