LOL! I just sent a message to Jason about this.

Do people not realize that the person with the weight problem knows MORE than anyone else they have a weight problem?

Maybe we should all wear our sin on the outside?

Perhaps the SEVERLY obese, sure - but many do NOT see it. When I had a 38 inch waist, I THOUGHT I was thin and healthy. Then, one day, I saw a video of myself walking thru a 911 center.

Within 18 months, I had a 34 inch waist.

My BMI was WAY off the scale with a 38" waist - I'm only 5'10".

Of course, we must define terms here, they use "BMI" to determine if you are overweight.... not sure what "obese" or "fat" really is defined as.

I'm not a fan of the BMI. It takes your weight overall, doesn’t differentiate muscle from fat.
Yea, I'm coming to the conclusion it's baloney myself. I went from a 38 to a 33 inch waist and only went from 218 to 196 pounds! You KNOW I lost more than 22 pounds of FAT!

So I was curious. I’m 6’1†with a waist size between 36 and 38 (36 tight / 38 loose). BMI number of 31.7, considered obese.

just like anything disliking any group of people based on prejudices is a sign of a limited intelligence.

though from my experience with really over weight people I feel sorry for them as society has given them ill equipped skills for how to eat correctly or there are other factors. I really feel for people who have given up on life and developed a defeatist mentality that also carries over to the way they care about their bodies. Loving yourself is required by Jesus. Loving yourself cares for your health.

Even in saying all that sometimes body parts fail and cause obesity and the poor people with that are treated as those who don't care about themselves :sad

I'm currently struggling with my weight. It sucks...the other day I woke up and I realized: there's no escaping the fat-ness I've developed. Its not like being an alcoholic or a gambler or whatever; until weight is dropped, it is who you are, at least on the outside. I'm considering a juice fast.

Weight loss is complicated, or can be. I believe that more of it is in the MIND than in the body or the food.

All these ads for diets and drugs and secret methods are a LIE.

You do not need someone's lectures, drugs, special diets, etc. Sure, some of us have hormonal issues (and that did play a part in my journey as well.) My mom had hormonal problems for decades before a doctor FINALLY retired, and when she changed doctors, within 3 years, she went from 180 to 95 pounds!

I think there are some major issues here:

1) What we eat. The "food" at many "restaurants" is junk. And I don't just mean McDonald's.

2) How much we eat. Can you BELIEVE THE portion sizes some restaurants give you? NO ONE should be eating a 16 ounce steak in one sitting.

3) Exercise. Our bodies were DESIGNED to MOVE. Exercise (other than in the water for some reason) does not "work up an appetite", exercise is an appetite suppressant.

4) Liquid calories. When you are thirsty, the body is asking for WATER, not coke, milk or any other calorie-laden concoction.

5) Diets do NOT work. A CHANGE in your attitude towards food WILL work.

I’ll tell you guys but don’t spread it around :). Within the next year or so I’ll be joining the fight against fat. My shoulder got busted up pretty bad over a year ago. Since then I have gained almost fifty pounds. No diets, don’t believe in them. I agree with Pizzaguy. Except the steak part, I need the steak.

Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to make fat, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
