One of the most damaging errors of modern evangelicalism is the failure to understand the Biblical tradition of using "end-of-the-world" language to express the theological significance of events that take place in the "political" domain.

Such language was never intended to be taken literally.

Hi Drew, this sounds a bit "NT Wright-ish". Are you a partial preterist? Is Matthew 24:30-31 speaking of the 2nd Coming do you think?

Got me - my thoughts on this are almost certainly a re-wording of Wright's ideas.

I am indeed a big fan of NTW. I think that indeed makes me a "partial preterist". And as per another thread, I do not believe Matthew 24:30-31 speaking of the 2nd Coming.
