The Lord said that pride is a sin, yet I hear people boasting. The Lord said not to insult people, yet I hear people insulting each other. The Lord said to love God with all your heart, mind, and soul, yet I hear people scoffing at the idea of having a personal relationship with the Lord. Sometimes it seems that I am the only person required to obey the rules, and yet if I do, the only thing I get is scorn from those around me.

But then, there is the peace of being obedient. When I obey, I have no fear. I know no harm can come to me.

Only those who are a slave to YHWH are required to obey. That is the prerequisite. Is that the right word?

Not true. Peter is a fine example. So are many of the other followers of the Messiah that obeyed and were harmed unto death, though there is a much greater life to expect afterwards.
