We have seat belts in our cars because they save lives. We have seat belts in planes but why don't they have seat belts in buses and trains?

Because train and bus accidents are uncommon....especially on trains.

even if you're in a city bus...is it's top speed of 25-30 mph really life threatening?

If you were to jump off of a 4 story building, your speed when you hit the ground would be about 30 mph. Would that be life threatening?

I don't know about trains, but where I live, buses have seat belts.

The TOG

A school bus loaded with 50 grammar school kids get in a wreck....the driver is pinned the kids are scared they start smelling smoke how many are lost?
School buses have high seatbacks in part to protect the child setting behind that seat.. The thinking is the force throwing the child forward would not have far to throw the kid.
The way kids are today some of the video we see those belts would be weapons in no time...
Our friend is a school bus safety instructor these are his thoughts paraphrased

most lethal motorcycle accidents are deadly at that speed and occur at that speed. buses do have seatbelts these days. the newer ones do.

I remember reading and hearing from the crash investagor in the garage about a twenty year old whom died at from being catapulted from her motorcycle. she hit a dodge ram head first and died then upon impact. a helmet would have said her life. she wasn't wearing one.

It must be the newer ones because I don't know of any where I live that have them.

they have had seat belts on the lease buses that the national guard has charted, the school buses that are "green" have them.
