I find the Patristic writings to be a good source of Christian tradition, a good way to be aware of what early Christians believed. I reject the Protestant concept of sola scriptura, because I believe that tradition can complement scripture (especially when scripture can be interpreted falsely and lead some people astray).
2 Thessalonians 2:15 (NKJV): Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.
