My niece, who lives in San Fran, send me a pretty weird video yesterday.
It was her and another girl, sitting in a car, that was driving itself.
No driver at the wheel.
She and the other girl were sitting in the back.
She's a computer programmer and trusts this stuff.
I wouldn't.

If I could figure out how to get a video from Whatsapp to here, I will.

It's a taxi.

You don't fly then .

On take off pilots are actually doing it.on landing they don't it's on auto pilot.
Honesty while I'm not a fan of it.yiu only think you give it gas ,and or turn the wheel.there is no connections on many cars in the steering .all new cars no linkage for gas .

I was an assistant to a top manager at LaGuardia Airport.
I know a lot about airports and how planes work.
Also, I'll add that on long flights, planes are put on auto pilot.

This is totally different.
Did you notice the traffic lights, the other vehicles, persons in the street....

I don't think it's safe.
But then again, humans make mistakes too.
So, I guess we'll have to get used to this.

And people are better .

Seriously i have people ran me off the road on foot .

Elderly and teen .the elserly ignore stops,turn to slow or the opposite .
Drive the wrong way.

A computer will have it's faults but pilots at night and during poor visibility fly on instruments only.

You can't trust your eyes at night or when you turn to hard ,balence issues .plus where is the direction?

A car is much easier to deal with .perfect ? No but honestly I know idiots who drive with no lights ,don't fix them ,no brakes working ,or bad parts and distractions.

My point is more of the fact you can be taken against your will .in the event of as it happened to me .in my non self driving truck the throttle died and I was not in traffic on a main roads .

I just think that for my mom that self driving car would still allow her to have some independence.

My mom is unsafe to drive .I barely let her drive on us 1 when Im with her.

Interesting point re your mom!
 
I'm not a fan of ai doing a lot but I'm not against robot cars,or vaccine and lawn mowers as these can be useful for the elderly

Of course it's possible if it's connected to the net but well how many jets as most pilots don't have maps on their bodies when they fly are ?

All birds unless military are not self navigating they use navigation beacons from the ground or gps.


I can't remember buying an accurate local map for directions in ages .can't find them

I object, not to the technology, but to the relinquishing of control and freedom. This is where many of these sorts of advancements technologically are headed. For the sake of convenience, and comfort, and (apparent) safety, people are willing to yield up control, and privacy, and liberty. Once they're gone, these things won't be easily retrieved - if they can be retrieved at all. But, as is so typical of human beings, only after control, privacy and freedom are lost beyond recall are they finally properly understood and appreciated. It is wildly naive for folks to think that those with sufficient power to do so won't leverage technology to obtain greater power over you and I. Think WEF, the United Nations, the EU, the CCP and so on. There is no shortage of totalitarian "strong men" waiting in the wings to bring us all under their power - if we grow complacent and myopic about technology and what these evil men could do to us with it.

I guess when you look at it that way, automatic cars are going to make a lot less mistakes than humans driving cars.
