how much reason do we have to take genesis literal....

If you choose not the believe Genesis you have to be careful what you throw out. If there was not a fall of mankind in the garden then there is no need for a redeemer. With no need for a redeemer then why did Jesus come? It has to have truth because God does not lie.

i have yet to read a commentary that has this right

When Jesus said that He was only sent to the lost sheep of Israel. Then she knelt down and worshipped Him. Rom 9:6-8 6 It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On...

i have yet to read a commentary that has this right

Matt 15:21-28 21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession." 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples...

    God's discipline on unrepentant believers

Acts 5:1-6 5 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet. 3 Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so...

    God's discipline on unrepentant believers

I thought that eternal death would qualify for killing the wicked. For your second question I thought that is what we were discussing. If not then how do you answer that question ?

    God's discipline on unrepentant believers

<DIR>Do 'christians' who dont confess their sin ever live a full life into old age? Maybe, if another Christian offers intercessory prayer. Are you saying God kills people for being wicked? The wages of sin is death. It's been that way since the garden. If a person has accepted Jesus...

    God's discipline on unrepentant believers

My position is : A. All Christians die physically unless we happen to be here at the end times. B. Some Christians die physically according to God's perfect will and in the time alloted to them. When they died they had no unconfessed in their heart. They died and went to heaven. C. Some...

    God's discipline on unrepentant believers

No I am not. How do we know when God planned for them to die. All I am saying is if a Christian does not repent of sin then God will eventually call them home early. I could die tommorrow and it could have been my normal time in Gods plan or it could be because I was harboring sinful behavior...

Poll: earring(s) for one, or both, his ears?

I am 69 ys old and spent 24 years in the service. My generation did not go for such things. One thing that I am glad about , even though I was in a naval service I never got a tatoo. I see nothing wrong with either jewery for men or tatoo's for either sex. It's just not me. I voted that I would...

    God's discipline on unrepentant believers

Rom 8:9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of...

    Discernment....

handy I think that the verses cited tell a person one thing to look for. The term ravenous wolves and you who practice lawlessness give one some clues. They are feeding their own desires. If all we see of them is on TV and we cannot see how they live their lives then it sometimes cannot be...

    "Helping" the homeless

It is a tough issue. With so many out of work and it seems more to follow. I have came to a conclusion that its not up to me to try to determine if their really in need or not. Matt 5:39-42 39 But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to...

God chastises us for our unrepentant sins so that we will turn from them.

God chastises with the purpose of getting behavior that is acceptable to Him. If a person does not have Jesus as his savior nothing they can do will make them acceptable to God. All our righteousness is as filthy rags until we have the imputed righteousness of Jesus. Even if Jezebel could repent...

God chastises us for our unrepentant sins so that we will turn from them.

I'm sorry for painting with a broad brush. In my old church most would not believe that she was saved. They believe that one had to promise to be good boys and girls to recieve salvation. If you continued in sin it meant that you were never saved to begin with.

God chastises us for our unrepentant sins so that we will turn from them.

I'm glad that you posted that Jezebel was saved when so many will debate till the cow comes home denying her salvation. So many Christians, especially those who say that you have to promise to be good little children to recieve salvation, would say that jezebel was never saved. It's clear that...

    Legalism

I believe that Jesus did it all and nothing can be added for salvation. None of the works I do after accepting Jesus' salvation goes to save me and that I do not have to do any works to maintain salvation or to keep believing. However, I believe that I can lose salvation by ceasing to believe...

    Uncleanness

Any violation of God's moral law. It does not mean what it meant in the Old Testament where it also included external defilement (leprosey etc) in addition to moral defilement.

Re: Bible clearly teaches that a true believer can forfiet their salvation! a treatis John 6:28 Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?" 29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent." NKJV I know its...

Bible clearly teaches that a true believer can forfiet their salvation! a treatise

Re: Bible clearly teaches that a true believer can forfiet their salvation! a treatis Brother, I believe that we should take every word of God as literal unless it is obviousily hyperbole or clearly explained by other scripture as meaning something else. If we start chosing on our own what to...
