[_ Old Earth _] So how's the climate going?

If they really want to stop this catastrophic jump in CO2, from 0.038 to 0.040% then............plant more trees...... Plants love that stuff, they put moisture in the air and more O2. Solar and wind use for electricity production are far too expensive. My brother in law gets paid 80 cents per...

[_ Old Earth _] So how's the climate going?

Good, it will be like the days of winter I enjoyed as a child......in the 60's and 70's before the scientists were paid to make up a climate farce.

[_ Old Earth _] So how's the climate going?

It is in constant flux. It may be a bit warmer right now, but will it stay that way. It is already way behind the scaremongering highs that they predicted a few years ago. To say that it is all caused by a gas that makes up 0.038% of our atmosphere rising to a staggering 0.040% of our...

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

This is one of my hurdles. Science states that the earth curves 8 inches for every mile squared. That makes a drop of 266feet in 20 miles. Science also states, or NASA states, that you cannot see the curve until 100 miles up. To me, these two scientific facts do not mix well.

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

If the earth curves 8 inches for every mile. You would think that you would see the curve at far lower altitudes. 8 inches for every mile is quite a curve, is it not?

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

Whether the earth is flat, square, a circle, globe, really doesn't matter to Christians. It is not essential to Christ's sacrifice and cleansing blood saving our souls and freeing us from sin... not in the least. However, if and I mean IF the earth is flat, one giant snow globe sort of deal...

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

It's too bad in one way. However, I don't really know of one person who has came to these forums as an atheist and been converted. Does anyone here know of one?

I haven't read that. I may take that on for a read this winter.

I understand, you don't believe the book of Enoch. That's fine. I'm not here to convince you. Have your read it? It has the most interesting analogy of the history of the universe. From Adam, right up to the end of days... all using animals as the characters.... quite fascinating.

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

It bothers me, at times, too. The biblical scriptures have more original copies and there is less time from the events to the time they were recorded, than all of the academically accepted works of philosophy. The Bible is sound and reinforces by these documents yet it conflicts with what man...

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

I am no expert on its name. I know it as "the book of Enoch". There are lots of places to read up on it, or read it. Check this site, it is interesting.... http://reluctant-messenger.com/enoch.htm We first learn of Enoch in Genesis 5 but it leaves us with questions. Hebrews 11 has the answers...

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

Ok, thanks. I was just a bit confused as in post # 167 you said: " I don't believe anything". Didn't know if you meant the Bible, also, as your avatar doesn't indicate whether you are Christian or anything else. Thanks for clearing that up. Personally, I believe that the Book of Enoch is an...

When you say "you don't believe anything" do you mean that you don't believe the Bible?

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

From my experience, there will not be enough proof out there to convince you. People are either open to the Biblically endorsed extra-biblical text or they just write it off due to the fact that the content paints a very extraordinary picture of history. We believe Plato, Aristotle, Socrates...

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

Don't know, however, the Bible quotes it and that is Holy Spirit inspired, God breathed, word of God. Gotta be something to it. Doesn't the dead sea scrolls have some of it too? I am busy and don't have time to search right now.

Enoch was born year 622 and taken in 987. Pretty close to 5,000 years ago.

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

Enoch was taught the art of writing, recording using symbols... which is the very basics of any recorded word. Every written language is just one form of symbols or another... Enoch was taught this.

[_ Old Earth _] Where Did the Idea of a Flat Earth Originate?

I found this quite interesting. In the Book of Enoch it states that some stars did not obey and were put in a prison. I know that this is not canon, so don't worry. I just thing that this book is facinating and for Enoch, the one that God liked so much that He took him, to write this down is...
