“OLD PEOPLE" PRIDE

I'm passing this on as I did not want to be the only "old people" receiving it. Actually, it's not a bad thing to be called, as you will see.

• Old People are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem. Old People remove their caps, cover their hearts, stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.
• Old People remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal , Normandy , and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mention Vietnam .
• If you bump into an Old People on the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old People on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old People trust strangers and are courtly to women and treat them with great respect.
• Old People hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.
• Old People get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.
• Old People have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children, grandchildren or their animals.
• It's the Old People who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country. This country needs Old People with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country, and decent values. We need them now more than ever. Thank God for Old People

Pass this on to all of the "Old People" you know. I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

During some auto races, like the Indy and many NASCAR races, America, the Beautiful actually precedes The Star Spangled Banner. :D

I agree with Ray Charles; it's a much better song and it should be our real National Anthem. Plus the music was written by a church organist. The Star Spangled Banner used a British melody. Yeah, the flag survived, but Battle of Fort McHenry was lost.

Go figure we'd chose a borrowed song written about a battle we lost. :lol

The irony in the Star Spangled Banner is that Francis Scott Key's grandson was held there as a prisoner without charge or trial during Lincoln's administration. Francis Key Howard was a Baltimore newspaper editor that was critical of Lincoln's war policies that ended him in jail there along with the mayor of Baltimore.

Excellent, mother reba.:thumbsup

You should bring America to the Promised Land. We give you our vote. We vote for you.
Be our Moses - lead us!
Be our David in times of war!
I listen to Old People always (not when they sing - that husky voice gives me the creeps).
However, I respect that voice when they defend us before our parents who always think we are insane, kinda.
You can easily spot their voices in a choir of a thousand singers. Such a voice can be heard from Gaza.
I love the company of Old People - but not while hurrying to the arena - I don't wanna miss the kick-off.;)
I love it when they share the food - they give the lion's share.
I run away from them when they go bonkers. Honestly, a child's fractious rage and ornery atmosphere is preferable.
Their snores!!! OMG. 100m/s I do.
I wonder why they always Lough out Loud @ midnight. :shrug
They are always arrogant when it comes to: I'm approaching the grave. I hate it when they talk about thier dying soon:bigfrown
I wonder why some love make-up. An Old Woman once said: when I grow up I will be a pretty girl.:confused :shrug :dunno

Old People are angels - gods in disguise. They are full of wisdom.
(Don't mind the noice made by these young idiots - the Old People are always right):D
GOD Bless Old People:pray

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

They grew up in hard desperate times they had things rationed to them. They grew up trusting everyone because people were too scared to be naughty. Their husbands and fathers were soldiers. I remember their stories of hardship and I respect them.

The generation of children and my GenX has big shoes to fill and sadly wont do it. They have been spoiled on the victories of that generations sacrifices.

The USA still has a lot of good God fearing folks... We have just been quiet too long... You might like the taste of this cake better...

I know what this is all about. It makes some people angry. :lol

Maybe they will get involved in "Old pride" marches and we should spawn hundreds of threads debating how we should deal with old people becoming ministers in churches and infiltrating the ranks of our churces because laws might be changing that give old people greater rights to be old.

Old people already have that... it's called AARP.
