Where's the opinion you speak of?

Post #14 documents the opinions of others and part of the basis behind their challenges and thoughts.

About the only thing I can say about the telescoping issue is this:
1. It's two, wait, three witnesses against one (Genesis 10:21, Genesis 11:10, 1 Chronicles 1:17) versus (Luke 3:36)
2. Dare I say it ... I don't view the New Testament as scripture al la Old Testament. While I believe the New Testament IS inspired by God, it is NOT the Law and the Prophets.

Hence why so many Christians are torn in half between observing all ten commandments including Shabbat, Feast Days and eating of selective foods.
Who do Christians point to when they don't want to observe Shabbat or Feast Days or eating only certain clean creatures - they point to Pauline doctrine.
So what I'm saying is that our good Lord above knew this was going to happen, where people get different understandings from the New testament. Namely from Luke and Paul's writings. I love them both but boy oh boy have they complicated things!

That being said, I do not subscribe to "telescoping" and I stick to the Genesis account of the Patriarchs.

I can't stress this enough - I believe the New Testament is inspired by God, but with caveats! Something about growing wheat and tares together comes to mind...

Edit: One very important reminder that MUST be stated, Jesus called the Old testament "Scriptures".

Edit to the edit: When all else fails, I use the Old Testament as the Foundation to all New Testament doctrine. Never the reverse order. Unless the words are written in Red :)

That's quite an interesting list of beliefs you have there. Duly noted. So, do you still have questions about what I may consider "opinion" and the difference between this (opinion) and that (the truth of the word of God as originally penned by the Holy Spirit through man)?

Nope no questions at all. Why don't we keep it moving that way people don't think you're on some personal thing lol

Why don't we keep it moving that way people don't think you're on some personal thing

But it is personal and it is also intimate. Why should I not admit that the Word of God is a quickening spirit? It is written to be.
But if you are saying that it's okay to not be "zealous" for the truth? Might I not also wonder what drove you to your conclusion about the exact year? My belief is that we are uncertain, but we can certainly know the season. Not sure how that fits with you, but that's what I hear in the Bible.

Have you clicked on the link on my signature? That explains how I got to 13 years remaining.

Feel free to fact check the numbers with the scriptures provided on the document.

Yes, in fact I have. That is what prompted me to speak about the possibility of "telescoping" which I've studied in some depth while giving my regard an entirely different topic.

I also have respect for your reasoning and also follow what you are saying about the Feast Days. tim-from-pa is just about he most respected authority I know of, certainly he is the most respected that I know, and I heard what he said. I do not go as far as to say, "Yep! That's what the Bible says, sure enough," but I'm not really arguing with you either.

Been around too long maybe? I remember when 1988 was such a far piece away and there came some who said, "Now we have it!!" and they spoke of fig trees and of the number of years in a generation and what the bible has to say about that. But I also remember a parable that Jesus (who is the Lord of this) spoke when he frankly discussed the "watches in the night" and the fact that we don't know what "watch" it will be. We do know that some will say he delays, and that straight from the reveal of our Lord Jesus, The Christ to the apostle John and as the Holy Spirit moved him to write about it. And we know why too, because we are told why.

But do we know the hour? There is something to ponder. There really is something to ponder there. But I can't stand and say, "Yep! I do." And I don't hear you demanding that anybody do that. But I don't mind saying, "I have it on good authority that the time is short." That, to me, is biblical.

It was never my intention to create this timeline.

One day my brother called me and told me that Shem was Melchizedek. So I told him I would look into it. I opened AutoCad and decided to chart out the life spans of the Patriarchs to see where Shem lined up against Abraham. To give the chart some scale, I used 1" for every year of time. I obliged to my brother that it was possible. I left the chart alone for a couple of months, then one day I had a thought, the Bible must have all years of history accounted for without extra-biblical help. So I set out to finish the timeline all the way to Jesus! And I did just that - took me a few months to do since it was an on and off project for me. When I got to Jesus, I simply added the rest of time to date starting from 1 A.D.

I left the timeline alone for months, then one day this past January, my brother called me about something in Daniel... I can't remember. But all I know is that in looking for what he was talking about, I stumbled unto realizing where to begin the count of the 1290 and 1335 years. So now, my timeline has an Alpha and an Omega.

If my timeline is correct, then in 1981 the generation that would mark the coming of the Messiah was born. Those persons will be 45 years old in 2026.

That's it, that's how I got this timeline.

I did some research last night on this issue about telescoping. It is what it is ... Luke has this extra name and the old testament genealogies don't!

However, I soon realized that the issue of telescoping does not affect the 2026 year on my timeline at all, since the events required to count 1290 days occur in A.D.

That being said, telescoping can affect the total year count of 5911 years on the timeline. Perhaps it could be 5911 plus 30 or 35 years??

Well said! Thank you for thinking about what I was trying to say because I don't really know. The thought that I'd like to chase down but lack experience in would be the idea that is conveyed in the concept of not knowing which of the 3 (according to Jewish Traditional) or 4 (according to Roman custom at the time of Jesus) 'watches' the the Lord mentions and what that might mean. I don't think we have an obvious way to do it but, if possible, we might be able to say, for instance, "We know that at least 2 of the 4 possible 'watches' have past."

Just a thought. Hope it helps.

Take a look at this timeline I generated from the scriptures. If the timeline is true... we have thirteen years to the end of the age.

Are you related to Harold Camping?

LOL NO!

and there is a difference between me and good ol Harold. Harold set out to find a date of return for the Lord.

I never set out to do such a thing. That timeline I have basically fell on my lap. A few threads up I tell the story of how it developed. So who knows, maybe I'm a victim of the Devil? Maybe I got tricked into it?

Or, maybe I'm just sharing what I found.

Or maybe IT found me.

Oh, let me share something with you that I found AFTER I finished the Timeline.
