Are you saying that the SDAs didn't come out of the Millerites despite what history shows? My point remains: both groups changed their original "prophecies" to reflect things other than what was originally prophesied, things that cannot even be verified as to their fulfillment.
No, again, the Millerites are not the Adventists no matter who came out of what. Nor did the Adventists set any dates. What does that have anything to do with it? I guess those descendants and churches that came out of the early North American Puritan faith 'burned innocent people at the stake because they thought they were witches" too.
Considering that Miller was a Baptist and not an Adventist, that would mean that the Baptists are guilty of date setting. Miller didn't start a new religion.

Second, lets stick to the topic at hand.
Any other views on what Daniel 8:14 means?
And JayT being an SDA got the 1844 based on the interpretation of Daniel 8:14 which is from the 2300 day prophecy. If you don't belive in the Adventist interpretation then his post is dead and you might as well cogitate on the year in general and come to some sort of conclusion like Jason did..
Therefore, this is more a discussion on Daniel 8:14, not the significance of the date (unless interpereted under the SDA context).
