82 years in jail

I don't understand why some would have to face such punishment. Seems the penalty is greater than the offense.

A rape case is nearly a life imprisonment.

Is that really fair for the guilty? http://news.sky.com/story/1548430/gang-jailed-for-grooming-vulnerable-schoolgirls

Note that I'm not applauding such wicked offences committed...just that I can't understand why the number of years....
These men did something evil. I know that. My point is not just about them alone. It is about the length years such offenders serve.

Someone would tell me it is to check against repeated offences.

Fair ? Those girls will live with this forever..
That is indeed true, but God can heal whatever situation an individual finds himself or herself.

Perhaps it would be better to kill of the offenders rather than watch then rust in jail.

I understand PBO is doing something about this over-jailwd issue, not on rape issue.

Galatians 6:7 Sometimes.

Both your heading and your OP are extremely misleading to the point of being false!!! :hips

EVERYONE... Please read the actual article. NO ONE got anywhere near 82 years in jail! This thread is nothing but trumped up drama just for the sake of drama itself. :nono

How is it about time-trading? Let's keep it simple. Suppose a rape took 20 minutes. If convicted, should the perp be imprisoned for just 20 minutes?

How do you feel about God sending people to an eternal Hell for what can be at most a human lifetime of sin?

The article lists the indivual amount of jail time for each person in this crime. It totaled 82 years. Not 82 years each. The total should be for longer.

It's the overcrowded prison system. No one does all the time. Parole comes quickly for these guys. They will only do half to a third of the time.

Thanks for the correction. Actually I copied it off their Facebook page, and it was indicated 82. The Facebook has the link

violent crimes ... as long as the door can be opened and some bad guy shoved in the jail is not over crowded..

It is better that 10 guilty go free than one innocent be punished.

Forgiveness of sins is a cornerstone of our faith. Often times it is good guys making bad choices and going to prison for their crimes. We all are criminals. Not every law that we have broken have we been caught at.
Just a friendly reminder.:idea

It's apparent that this did not take place in the United States, I could not find in the article where it took place, but it seemed to be a U.K Website.
The men all had gotten pretty reasonable sentences. In the United States, they would have never been free again.

I don't like the practice of throwing people away, it's not right. A System that believes you can not be forgiven, is not in line with what my Lord believes. Even after people are released, their record is hung over their head. Everyone has flesh, and every single person has yielded to their flesh more than once. There is this lie that believes that what I yielded to is not as bad as what you yielded to. The truth is, that all flesh is the same, and put in the right circumstances, at the right place, people do things they never thought they would ever possibly do. They find themselves taking that trip down that dark road, and don't even understand how they ended up there.

This is a beautiful reply. We shall believe the report of the Lord: I am free.
