who wants to mess with me now? :lol
try the mp qual and its just like the cops not the regular one, a lot harder, we fire from the prone, left hand , right hand, half barricade, full barricade, weaver stance, strong hand

I'd go for a .46 because it's bigger...

I know you were just being smart, but in semi-automatic pistols there actually is a .460 Rowland round, and a .50 round. Don't forget about the .475wildey favored by Charles Bronson.
lol! I sure was. lol Nuts. I was wondering why no one said anything (hope they didn't think I was serious). Yeah, I'm clueless. My gun knowledge comes from TV and the movies. I've never heard of the .460 or .475. It really isn't funny now that I know it actually exists.

And they keep making new stuff!! They can't keep with the ammunition demand, but they can come up with new rounds to solve problems that don't exist......WHISKEY TANGO HOTEL???? Could have said foxtrot,lol... :D

Black powder derringer six shot 32 cal. pepper box mix a touch too much powder all six cylinders
discharge at once. :yes

Turnorburn, it's been a long time, but I recall reading that over half the people shot by derringers are owners who accidentally shoot themselves.

I hate derringers. What a sorry excuse for a handgun. You can't hit what you aim at, you can'y depend on them going off, unless you don't want them too.

Recently a nurse had one drop out of her purse and it shot through a wall in the emergency room.....she was fired and rightly so.

They're just 'belly guns'.

O.k. a belly gun right? Hows about a sawed off 10 gage Italian Stallion at 10 paces. :yes

Not legal, not managable, not enough rounds. :naughty

Sticking with the 1911 .45

mp40. that's awesome pulls up when it fires, but at close quarters with that speed it fires, he's going down.

I picked 9mm because there are more options for CCW. Not to mention 9mm +P+ rounds are definately potent enough for self defense and have similiar muzzle energy to a .45 cal.

That's reasonable. Does NJ have ccw? What do you prefer for summer/winter carry?

Derringer 357. Magnum holds 4 rounds, things in my past.. :shocked!

Yeah, there are those type derringers. Just not a good self defense choice imo.

That would be a different thread, but I'd still choose the .45 acp over it. For revolvers I'd go with .44magnum.
Man, I dont know about 44 mag in a snubbie concealed carry gun :lol
My SP101 is a wrist breaker with full load magnums, I dont even want to mess with 44 mags in something this small

That's very cheap considering a box of 100 38 specials runs $30!

What type of rounds do you use?
I think the .357 magnums over penetrate too much for self defense.

For the range I bought 50 pounds of pure lead ingots and cast my own bullets with a Lee mould.
Theyre 158gr RN...cast about 3000 earlier this year, still have a lot left for this next year.

I started reloading my SD rounds too since the full mag loads are too much for the wife to handle if she needed to and the 38's....well, theyre 38's and hardly a match for a magnum. Tried +ps...not really much better than the 38s quite frankly.
So I found a good recipe thats just at the high end of what the wife can handle, but a bit more guts than the 38+P's
For SD rounds Im using Hornady XTP FNs, I believe. Flat but a bit of a hollow point, 125 gr, if memory serves.
I think the .357 magnums over penetrate too much for self defense.
Another reason I decided to load my own. The Ruger is a tank and can handle mag rounds beyond what they suggest as max, but I really dont need to go that route. We cut back the power to a nice level.
The max is about 11 grains of the powder we use, but Im only using about 7.3-7.5 grains (a stout 38 special is 5 grains with a +p being about 6.5-7 grains)

Cool site. Ive used some of their info :)

1911, a better and easier to conceal gun.

You can get a 1911 in lots of calibers though. 38super, 9mm, .40, and .45 and maybe more!

I do agree with you that the 1911 is the best semi-auto pistol out there though. Which brand 1911?
