Well, Venter was the first scientist to successfully map the genetic code of humans..But he wasn't happy with that. He wanted to "create" synthetic life...

What is Venter's motivation?

Now, as Venter has said, this is completely controlled through computer software. Once a person is infected by this synthetic life, it self replicates, until the entire person it has infected is actually a

we do that with foods, and have for centuries.

Right okay Genetic watermarks are non-coding regions of DNA intentionally they serve two functions 1: Satisfying those dudes fat and overfed Egos, Alot of them have massive ego's Hence why I had to endure a painful 4 hour lecture on "Properly citing others work" blah blah *Plagiarism* blah blah ¬.¬ Me and Yvette had an art session instead. it's good cuz I'm left handed like most transsexuals ^.^ so we can draw on the same sheet. anywho.
2: These regions serve no purpose in the organisms working and mutate alot if a sample of this organism escapes you can work out from which batch the contaminant came from and how long its been since it escaped (As they mutate slowly over generations anyway)
It's not infectious to anybody humans or goats and probably would die in the wild but it's still important to keep your genetically modified lab specimens inside the lab for obvious reasons better not to chance it.

It's recently been ruled that gene patents are invalid and rightfully so in my opinion biotech companies were really screwing up developing nations with them engaging in a kind of bio-terrorism. so he can't get a patent on his new organism his organism is effectively public domain and anyone can use it if they buy it and grow it out. I don't really see the point in this species anyway I mean we genetically modify E.Coli and other species all the time massively altering them from there purpose making better cheaper lab species anyway. Literally anybody can do it, it costs like £40 and if I could do it as a 15 year old anyone could.

Venter has a good point and your community and your influence is a massive part of that problem. Johnny is prime example of this chronic lack of critical thought that is openly endorsed by certain ways of reading your holy books it is worrying, and simply harking bible verses of doom and gloom providing no solutions while innocents starve and go without water decrying any options that may offer solutions one day to these problems as satanic is a sad waste at best, and inexcusable crime against your god given intellect and love for others at worst.

mrsa is a flesh eating bacteria and so is staph, those arent even modified bacteria.

uh septic tanks use modified bacteria that is easily killed by the bleach, draino.

Hybrid creatures are a lot different than new creatures, just saying. If you own a dog, cat, or parakeet you own a hybrid creature. Of course now they can do more "out there" hybrids, but really this only works with plants.

No one has ever created life, aside from God, and I highly doubt if anyone ever will. It is not that easy, they have been trying for decades and they are no further along than they were in the 1950s. Some things simply cannot be done.

If you want to worry about made life, then go look into robotics. That is where "made" life will come from, although it will be artificial and completely "dead".

Final remark, as a Christian I have no worries in the world that some crazy atheist will ever succeed at making life... Who can breathe life into something besides God?
