A Christian Nation? Since When?

Yes, interesting article. I think the United States is a Christian nation and the free enterprise economy creates opportunity for people to have a better quality of living. As a result many people from other nations that are not Christians will come here seeking a better way of life and in the process will hear the Gospel and accept Christ.

Read George Washington's prayer journal for evidence of our Christian nation. Or Thomas Jefferson's U of VA staff Chaplain ads for free tuition for those training for the clergy. Or how the Founding Fathers all put our laws together largely directly from Deuteronomy or from those who read the Bible and their thoughts on how to implement it in society. Or how the word Liberty on our coinage and in our terminology for legal documents was a direct reference to being born again from above and means freedom in Christ to serve the Lord God...
The Declaration of Independence has a lot of overt references to the Lord God and Jesus Christ and then in the Constitution you see it is double dated back to the day of the signing of the Declaration and it is signed in the year of OUR LORD (who could that be: Jesus!) showing it is linked with the Declaration and the 2 are considered 1 inseparable document...

Even for the folk who question the Christian beliefs of our founding fathers, there is no questioning the fact that our entire cultural and government ideologies are firmly and unquestionably grounded in Judeo-Christian heritage. We have secular government not subservient to a state religion, but a culture distinctly Christian. I don't see how anyone can question the fact that we are a Christian nation.

I don't see how anyone can question the fact that we are a Christian nation.

Its the meddling, hypocracy and outright pride. I think after Rome and Spain(there are much more in between the span of those two) alone as examples, people figured out that there can be no such thing to assume a nation as Christian. These types of nations always end up one way or another trying to impose rules for believers on the worldly populace and end up in opposition to instruction from the Word.

some elected to office say we are/were never a Christian nation even the top guy today in the USA has said it.
They can lie, but it doesn't change the truth. The words of fools, even spoken in ignorance, do not alter history. We ARE a and have always been and always will be, a CHRISTIAN nation. The first Believers to come here made a covenant with God on the way over here that this land would be the launching point of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people.
Something like 95% of the money to evangelize anywhere cones from the USA directly.
Now you see why the devil spends so much of his energy trying to stop that.
But he hasn't and he won't and he cant; God is with US, and so whoever is against us will fall for our sake (the righteous in this nation).

Just covered this in American History I (thank you, Liberty Online)...the founding fathers and early leaders of our nation emphasized Christianity to produce virtuous citizens. Freedom was seen as linked to individual morality.
