Our focus has to be on the Spiritual for that is the realm we have been risen with Christ who sits at the right hand of the Father, Colossians 3:1-4. Our citizenship as a Spiritually born again child of God is that of His kingdom, even though we are still here on earth physically.
Matthew 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
Twelve legions of angels are 72000 angels Jesus could have called on to fight for Him, but He knew scripture had to be fulfilled in His birth, death and resurrection. We can't command angels like Jesus could, but we pray to the Father and He will send us whatever angel we need.
A good example is that my husband was taking me to work one day and the roads were very icy. The car started sliding into the path of an oncoming semi. I didn't have time to pray, but only kept repeating the name of Jesus over and over. I know He sent an angel that literally pushed our car back into our lane away from the oncoming semi just as we were about to hit it head on. I've had so many experiences where angels sent by God have saved my life and I knew they were angels even if I couldn't see them, but I could feel them around me.
This is the kingdom of God within us as I said earlier that our focus has to be on the Spiritual things from above which is where our citizenship is at. My fleshly body lives here on earth, but yet I am risen with Christ through the Spiritual rebirth that helps me walk in the Spirit while here on earth.
I loved the above post. Our focus does need to be on Kingdom of God, which does mean it has to be on all things spiritual, but on our Lord Jesus Christ who is the King and thus also on His Kingdom also, because if you know and hear from the King you should be able to hear from the Kingdom also.
Concerning that time at the cross. Jesus could have called on angels to fight in their way, which is extremely effective. But Jesus had something to do and go through, so He didn't. Yet if they were there in the flesh, wouldn't they have been fighting so they would not be going to the cross. If the crowd would have simply asked for Jesus to be released, instead of Barabbas, it would have been done, but His Kingdom was not of this world.
Jn 18:36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world..."
Jn 18:39 ... I release someone for you at the Passover; do you wish then that I release for you the King of the Jews?"
The angels in heaven would have said yes, because He was their King. But nobody was listening to the angels. Would it be different today?
I loved the testimony in the above post too. Yet is there something missing we didn't consider? Maybe not, but where was the conversation before the incident? Jesus went to the cross and the people got a change at salvation even though they were not listening to the King of His kingdom before the cross. But wouldn't it have been better if they listen to Him and His kingdom before hand?
[I hope this is not taken wrong] But is the testimony in the prior post a little like the cross. There is no indication that the Kingdom of God was being listened to before the incident, only that mercy and grace were poured out just because someone called on His name when dead approached. All those who call in His name will be saved, but isn't there more to gain than just salvation? Could He have given some advise before hand, like perhaps a notice that their car was going to side on the ice if not careful?
I am a person too, and I have to remember to seek the Lord during the day, and that because I am not seeking Him all through the day. I get busy. I get going along do what I think to do, without talking to Him. I only hear from Him about a dozen different times a day. But even those times are not always because I do at time remember to seek Him and see what He might have to say to me.
So I had an incident like the testimony above also, but with even less time. I was driving down the freeway when someone in the lane next to me and a bit in front of me suddenly threw a heavy object out their window. It look like a shot put, but it happened so fast. It was coming right at my window and my head, when it curved and hit my rear view mirror. It instantly took off the rear view mirror, but I saw it curve and miss me. So I started a conversation with the Lord, and was told that an angel had caused it to curve. I didn't even have to call on the Lord and His kingdom. Because of my relationship, they just took action.
Yet, let me give another testimony about actually seek the Kingdom of God.
One day I came down to my car, from a hotel room while on vacation. Two men were starting to fight, so I started a conversation with the King and His kingdom. I ask the Lord if He couldn't do something, like send some angels to stop the fight. Then instantly the fight stopped and the two men went their way. Not only that, the angels who stopped it loved the request and told me so.
Jesus Christ didn't call on the angels at the time of the cross, because there was something He had to go through, yet those angels love helping! They love being called upon to help. You, as a believer dwelling in the shadow of the most high would have them watching over you, [Ps 91:11], but what about others.
What difference can you make by seeking the Kingdom of God? We have a door tot he Kingdom, which is Jesus Christ. And it is a Kingdom is a kingdom of power, yet too often we have little power. It reminds me of the church of Philadelphia. I have heard preachers proclaim it was the church that didn't have any problems! Didn't it?
Rev 3:8... I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power....
They only had a little power!! Yeah, we don't deny His name, even perhaps call on it when in trouble, but we too often only have a little power! We have people around us who fight, who are hurt, who need all kinds of help, and there is a door to a Kingdom of power!!! The door is open and nobody can shut it, but are we going through that door? Are we even seeking that Kingdom?
There is a problem!! WE DON'T SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD!
