I had no idea that you agreed with Pascals Wager...blueeyeliner said::-D INTER-FAITHISM FORUMS on the internet everywhere!
You cannot always trust everything you hear, because religion
isn't going anywhere. What is there to gain from atheism?
There is everything to lose in atheism.
What is there to gain from religion?
According to the Wager, everlasting life in paradise.
What is there to lose? Nothing.
According to real life, where there are mutually exclusive religions, if you believe in one religion, and it turns out to be the wrong one, what have you gained? Nothing.
What have you lost? A life that you've spent in the service of a false religion.
According to the Wager, what is there to gain from Atheism? Nothing.
What is there to lose? Everlasting life in paradise.
Since that assumes that ONLY Christianity exists, it's incorrect.
What is there to gain from Atheism, according to real life? A life without any form of guilt based on someone just being alive. An equal chance on being condemned to "hell", the same chance all those religious people have.
What do you stand to lose? The continuous fear of going to hell, the continuous mental torture known as "we're not worthy, we're sinners, we need to be saved", (If anyone did that to anyone else, they'd be jailed for it, and rightly so. Since there is no proof for one religion over another, the "truth" arguement falls flat as well and is no justification for that treatment) the comfort of knowing that you are not responsible for your own life and choices. (a good possibility as to why some people believe...)
So, B.E.L... Are you willing to bet your life and afterlife on that Wager? Are you willing to chance believing in a false religion?
More to the point, do you want to take that chance with other peoples lives?
