A Phase You'd Rather Forget

Mike

Member
So, in the early 80's I was in high school, and there was a phase I went through when I was all about the Don Johnson "Miami Vice" look. My older brother used to rag on me and call me the "Good Humor Man", with me rocking the white pants, pastel shirt, and the white jacket with the sleeves rolled up. Kinda like this:

Oh, and I also sported the "Corey Hart" hair!

It was an awesome look :shame

Any other phases you shake your head about?

Uhm...yeah right there with you Mike.

In England we also had Shell Suit mania in the late 80's. This was my look for a few years I'd rather forget about:

Yeah, we've all been there.

In the 80's I sported a girl mullet whilst wearing leg warmers over my jeans. :oops

Oh, and who can forget the huge shoulder pads. Even if we desperately want to.

I got a permanent once. Fortunately, it wasn't permanent. (The Punmeister strikes again! I drive people nuts with bad puns.)

I also dyed my hair once. It didn't die though. It's still there (well, most of it, anyway).

you died it grey.

lol.

no,phase for me this military men has kept his hair, bald, flat top or in a high and tight(ranger cut)

and also i did pierce my left ear for a few yrs( i dont want to go back to that) and also wore baggy pants.lol

:clap Ha ha....Mike I recall that look back then. Your a brave man.

I don't recall getting too trendy back then. I was a prep kid in the 80's, but I'm sure I've had some sweaters I would not wear again ever.

No, I didn't dyi it grey. (Do they even make grey hair dye?) I dyed it a little darker blonde than it already is. I was thinking about it, but I wasn't quite brave enough to dye it black. My mom probably would have had a heart attack when she saw that. It wouldn't have been as bad as dying it red though. She used to have red hair (greyish brown now) and got teased about it when she was a girl. In spite of photographic proof, she still refuses to admit that my sister was born with red hair (my sister, who has been blonde since that first red hair fell out, turned 43 last November).

I was born with red hair that fell out and grew back blond, too. And, it's been blond ever since, except for the times I dye it red. My mom was a red-head, but she loved it. It wasn't Lucy/Orphan bright orange red, more of a strawberry blond that darkened to a beautiful auburn. I would have loved to have that color hair, but it just doesn't come in a bottle.

Danus, you didn't, by any chance, go by the name of Biff, or Kip, during your preppy stage did you? I had a college class with a joined-at-the-hip preppy/yuppie couple who, whatever their real names were, preferred to be called Biff and Muffie. Biff wore penny loafers w/o socks and pastel sweaters. Muffie dotted the i in her name with a little heart. :verysick

Reba...Daddy O!?! :lol

Now that I think about it... bell bottoms, hip huggers and the awful pseudo afro I donned in the early/mid 70s. :o:help

Well no. but, since my real name is not hard to figure out with the first 3 letters of my "handle" I should inform you that my wifes name is "Dana". it's sick I know.

I had a really cool sweater I liked to wear, but after Bill Cosby started wearing it.....I had to throw it out. Aside from that it was deck shoes, Levi's and polo shirts. Now days I'm an LL Bean man. :lol

I wore my hair slightly bigger.<O:p</O:p

But then again, everything about the 80’s was big. Big hair, big make up, big shoulder pads, big music (with endless electric guitar solos)<O:p</O:p

Big shoulder pads were on everything...I mean look at that, those big shoulder pads on a strapless bikini...oh, wait, those were her big earrings.

I should have done the big hair. I didn't, sad to say I opted for the girl mullet. :shame

Oh, and the leather ties that ushered in the knit ties. I couldn't let those trains pass me by. :lol
