It probably had more to do with Vinton's willingness to take a low payment for appearing.

Some of it. The Offspring, The Clash, DRI, Sublime(!), and even Billy Idol had a few good songs. Wasn't Blondie considered a punk Band? If so then include her too. No Beastie Boys for me though Ugh.
