Absolutely Useless Trivia...

Jimmy Soul had a one hit wonder in 1963. It was....?

And it wasn't the first time those lyrics were used. What earlier calypso tune was it based on?

No Freudian slip ... just thought I'd drop a hint to perhaps daze & confuse .... but hey, we're celebrating great times 'cause your answer, Edward , is CORRECT !

Tommy James & The Shondells had a #1 with "Crimson and Clover" in 1969 ...... Joan Jett & The Blackhearts took it to #7 in 1982 .......... great song!

What songstress's 1984 effort was the first debut album to produce four hit singles (along with 2 others that did well on the charts) ?

Further, what are the names of those hit singles?

Unfortunately, I have to leave now ...I'll check in tomorrow .......... Good luck!

If you wanna be happy?

I don't know what tune it was based on. :(

I think that's a Stevie Nicks question...I can't really name the hits, I'm sure I know the songs though!

A calypso performer called Roaring Lion recorded "Ugly Woman" in the 30s. My best friend in high school thought it was hilarious.

Song: If You Wanna Be Happy

Based on: :Ugly Woman" by Roaring Lion

How 'bout that. I impressed myself with that one. I remembered it. There's my aunt coming out in me, lol.

I'm going for Madonna...

As for Edward's earlier Stevie Nicks question: She was married to a guy named ... whoo boy, I can't remember, but she had an affair with Mick Fleetwood.

Edward, for your musical edification:

Another Phil Keaggy... just 'cause he's so good!

Wow that was nice, thank you Handy.

It was Mick Fleetwood, and her BF was Lindsey Buckingham.

Any Pink Floyd fans out there? Let's do some PInk Floyd trivia.

A girl who sang backup vocals on the masterpiece cut, The great Gig in the Sky for a 150 dollars (taken off the street or perhaps a local pub IIRC). She had no idea what a megahit it would become (it did become a mega-hit, and largely because of her wonderful addition of those vocals of hers), and later sued the band for co-authorship of the song. What was her name? Extra points for telling how much was the settlement.

Totally useless fact check on totally useless trivia (:lol) but Stevie was never married to Mick or Lindsey. I'll admit I googled the name of her only husband...a guy by the name of Kim Anderson. However, I think that she was "with" Buckingham when she had the affair with Fleetwood... such complicated lives when one doesn't follow God's will. It's a good thing I'm a Christian, I could never keep up...:D

Love Pink Floyd, but I have no idea who the mystery woman is...

Stevie was never married to Mick or Lindsey.

Right, Lindsey was only her boyfriend of sorts. Mick came clean with him eventually before he found out on his own.
I heard Stevie and Mick taking about it in an interview somewhere, I guess everyone knew about it except Lindsey..

This was kind of a big event for Pink Floyd for this girl to sue them over rights to the song. I thought this would be an easy one. I bet AirDancer knows the answer, lol. From listening to the vocals of this track, for a long time I thought that it was a black girl singing and didn't find out the truth of it that she is white until I read about it and it had the girls picture...I notice that that many black girls sing very well and have beautiful singing voices.

It's answer time for the following questions:

What songstress's 1984 effort was the first debut album to produce four hit singles (along with 2 others that did well on the charts) ? This was Cyndi Lauper

Further, what are the names of those hit singles? "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "Time After Time," "She Bop," and "All Through the Night." Also landing in the Top 40 lists from the same "She's So Unusual" album: "Money Changes Everything," and "When You Were Mine."

she still sings, I think I heard a recent realize,. she also seems to have fixed that look.i also recall that she is also good at classical music and does have talent in that genre.

I agree, jasoncran - Cyndi Lauper does have talent with classical music.

She was also hilarious in the old movie "Vibes" - she co-starred with Peter Falk and Jeff Goldblum. Very quirky persona.

yes, but well she looks younger now the pictures on the album then she did in the 80's. to the point that I didn't recognize her. she is also savant and has a high iq.

She's someone with whom I think would be great fun to sit down & discuss various subjects

i know she is pro gay rights. hmm I have also found some time of kinship with her. at the time I was young I was very introverted and didn't socialize much. for this reason I had to learn a lot. I rebelled in my own way. she in interview can across as someone who did things in that manner.

Ah, that explains why I didn't know that. I never listen to Cyndi Lauper. I thnk she's the one with the orange hair hair, right? That's all I know about her, lol. (Or she did have, mave have ditched it by now)

Anyone have an answer to this one yet?
