Growth After you are Saved, what is the most Important Action you Should take?

What should you do after your are saved? I have some ideas, but I want to know what you think.

In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus gave us the Great Commission. He said, "All authority has been given me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age." NKJ

The question is "What is your part of the Great Commission and how do you accomplish this task?" First, you need to be in the Word of God. Not only do you need to find a church or someone to mentor you, you need to study it for yourself. That is the way you grow. Just like everything else in life, you need to have the tools and the knowledge to accomplish your mission. Second, you need to know what your mission is, what is it that you are supposed to accomplish for Christ. We get that answer by asking Him. You need to pray for what you are supposed to do. If you are alive and on this planet after you are saved, you have something to accomplish for Christ. You should know what it is and how to accomplish it.

This is my answer, what do you think?

That's a good question. My answer is that we should seek God with all of our heart, follow Jesus and emulate His life, even if it cost us. To be transformed back into the image of God that we were created to be. God is Love. Jesus is the flesh representation of the Father, put the Fathers will above His own...we are told to follow Jesus.

This is about more than getting a ticket to heaven. This is about getting back to our original nature, and image of God that we were originally. In short, we are to become love, as Jesus was/is. All these things will be added unto us afterward...that is the first, seek the Kingdom of God.

We don't have to 'go into ministry' we are ministers of the Word 24/7 as soon as we are saved...;) So let your light shine before men. Live it.

"All authority has been given me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Does anyone know of even one apostle that did this from that point in time? Baptizing disciples in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit? Did Paul forget? Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Are the following apostles just forgetting to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ.
Act 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Yes, I agree Edward.
My experience is this:
I got saved and wanted to me close to Jesus.
I prayed continually and read his word.
I wanted to know God more and more and I couldn't put the Bible down.
I wanted to know everything about God.
I quickly learned that praying to God to be close to him and reading his word went hand in hand.
And it wasn't long before I wanted to serve him however I could.
God opened doors for me as I was willing and able.
It hasn't changed.

I was saved myself by angelic intervention in a near self combustion incident. I was shown the love of our Father and his angelic purpose. To try and prove this to other human beings as a form of miracle is easily ridiculed and also determined to involve some form of mental illness. This has always caused me great grief for it has always seemed to be the way in which either miracles or spiritual love for our Father has been approached. Therefore human beings who know spirit are therefore always tested to try to prove in some way what our purpose in life is. Miracles have always been the way that we have been taught about spirit.

Science and religion therefore have always been argued over and miracles easily dismissed. Yet the Bible supports the miracles as ancient human beings documented their own spiritual history, and even today Scientists use these documents themselves and argue about them. Who are they to argue with those who know. Therefore I would say to anyone who wants to accomplish a task is to understand biblical wisdom can be established through archaeological discovery, that can cause common day humanity to know the truth that we were saved through the Act of Christ. It is the actual act itself that is disputed and argued over, and this has been argued over throughout history....as ancient documents attest to the arguments.

That is where I am at right now brother. :)

Sandy: Great post!! I love your answer.

Thank you Sister. :)

I understand exactly what you mean and feel. This was a great trouble spot for me in the past, but of late, I have been given to understand that most people are too wise for their own good. We are an intellectual people...to our downfall. When man gained wisdom and understanding in the fall at Eden, we began thinking with our mind instead of our heart. We were spiritual beings and walked with God. When we gained the knowledga of good and evil and began thinking with our minds instead of our spirit (heart for lack of a better descriptive term), we lost living for the spirit. The spiritual being lives by faith in God on a spiritual level.

When we put off the old man and live for the spirit, everything changes. Miracles are easily discerned all around us, The beauty and perfection of creation is everywhere and we begin to be able to hear God speaking to us. Our grief turns to sympathy that we know that they simply do not understand. We see that behind every intellectual conjecture (lol) is pride. See how smart I am? (lol). The wise and learned must becomes as fools, in humility, being able to see that the wiser they are, the more foolish they are. Then and only then will they even begin to be able to see (what us fools see).

Archaeological proofs abound everywhere, preserved for the blind, whoops, I mean the smart ones, lol. :) He that that eyes, let him see. He who has ears let him hear.

Amen to the highlighted above.

Amen brother. We should not take any mans word for anything. Pastors are merely pointers which point us in the direction of what to read for ourselves and find out the truth. Dig and read and pray. We have to do our own homework.

A man after my own heart. Any man can be wrong. They may think they are right, but they aren't. We are fallible humans even when we have the best of intentions.

1. When we get saved we become a new person.
2. When we get baptized in water the old person is cut off.
3. When we get baptized in the SPIRIT we get the power to walk in the new (filled with the Holy Spirit).

In order to go to heaven you need to be saved only; the thief on the Cross was a example.

Baptism is a Scriptural and public declaration of faith. It's what the early believers did in Acts 2.41. It does not bring about the new birth, but rather it's a symbol of the fact that the new birth has already happened.

How can we be sure?

How can we be sure?

This is why ti's a very good idea for baptism to be sought among a well-taught, Biblically based company of Christians who will be able to discern and advise in a Biblical the person who has made the profession of faith and assess his or her personal testimony.

In the end, no one else can give assurance of faith; this is a work of the Holy Spirit, Who cries 'Abba, Father' (Romans 8).

After Salvation, I got into studying the Scriptures. I discovered that I was never going to try and do something for Jesus. I decided to make myself available to Jesus so He could do anything He wanted to do through me.

Great way of putting it. We need to know what He has anointed us to do, study, and learn how to follow Him.
