The video highlights that there are different Salvation doctrine for different time period and different group of people. In the Old Testament it's Faith + Good Works while New Testament, it's Faith alone, in the 7 Year Tribulation it's Faith + Good Works again.

First I need to ask if this thread is about dispensationalism? Just a simple yes or no before I would continue with that or not.

God's plan of salvation has always been through Christ before the foundation of the world, Ephesians 1:1-6; 1Peter 1:13-25 as it is all by God's grace through faith, in the OT and NT bringing a better covenant of God's grace and righteousness found in those of faith in Him and His Son Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:8-10, who, as in the OT also in the NT walk in obedience to His commands.

There are various doctrines in how one must be saved, but not every doctrine lines up with what has already been written in how we come to that personal relationship with Christ through the Spiritual rebirth from above and being indwelled with the Holy Spirit like that of John 3:5-7; Romans 10:9-10 and Colossians 3:1-17 for just a few examples.

I do not believe in a pretrib Rapture of the church as Jesus says He returns on the last day, but no one knows when that will be, Matthew 24:29-31; 36-39 nor does scripture teach a seven year tribulation period, but only that of seven trumpets of God's great wrath being poured out into the world that only affects those who are not His own.

Dispensationalist only believe that literalsim is the best way to view scripture. They also believe there is no non-literal fullfillment of messianic prophecies in the NT. If a literal interpretation is not used in studying scripture there is no objective standard by which to study scripture.

Dispensationalist hold that the church has not replaced Israel in God's program and that the OT promises to Israel have not been transferred to the Church.

To sum it up dispensationalism is a theological system that emphasizes the literal interpretaion of Bible prophecy and recognizes a distinction between Israel and the Church and organizes the Bible into two different dispensations or administrations.

The first systematic expression of dispensationalism was formulated by the father of dispensationalism by John Nelson Darby sometime during the late 1820's and 1830's in British Isles in whom began the dispensation movement. Darby's development was the culmination of various influences which produced within his thought one of the most literal approaches to Bible interpretation in history and a theology which distinguishes God's plan for Israel from God's plan for the Church. The most well known feature of dispensational theology is the much debated pretribulation rapture theory. Notice the word theory. Theory is just the carnal minds way of interpreting something. Darby was succeeded by the theologian C. I. Scofield, Harry A. Ironside, Lewis Sperry Chafer, William R. Newell and Miles J. Stanford, each of whom identified Pentecost (Acts 2) with the start of the Church as distinct from Israel.

Grace Movement Dispensationalist believe the Church started later in Acts and emphasize the beginning of the Church with the ministry of Paul. Advocates of this "mid-Acts" position identify the start of the Church occurring between the salvation of Saul in Acts 9 and the Holy Spirit's commissioning of Paul in Acts 13. The "Acts 28" posits that the Church began in Acts 28 where the Apostle Paul quotes Isaiah 6:9, 10 concerning the blindness of Israel, announcing that the salvation of God is sent to the Gentile world, Acts 28:28.

In relation to justification by faith alone the place of works is found in Ephesians chapter 2. Justification is by grace through faith, not from yourself and not by works. It is by faith alone since all human efforts are excluded here, Ephesians 2:8, 9. Ephesians goes on to say that every person who has faith is to produce good works according to God's plan Ephesians 2:10. We know also that faith without works is dead faith. These works, however, are not a cause for forgiveness, but a result of forgiveness. Faith alone justifies, but faith is never alone as it is followed by good works. The works of love are the goal of the saving faith, 1 Timothy 1:5.

James 1:16-18 clearly teaches that the recipients of the letter have been justified by God through the saving gospel which is Christ Jesus who is our faith. James also taught in James 2:14-26 that faith is dead within us if not followed by good works as it takes faith and good works to justify us. It begins with faith alone when we first accept Jesus as Lord and Savior entering into a better covenant by God's grace and then we become his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We are to endure all persecutions and tribulations until the end when Christ returns for at that time we take our salvation rest in Him as we are saved from the lake of fire as we are then with Him for eternity. Sacraments or Holy Communion, both being the same thing, with the bread and the wine are done in remembrance of what Christ went through for all who will come to Him. 1 Corinthians 11:23-29

Baptism

Lev 16:23 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
Lev 16:24 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.

The Mikveh (meaning a collection of water) in the OT was a bath used for the purpose of ritual immersion. Several biblical regulations specify that full immersion in water is required to regain ritual purity after ritually impure incidents have occurred. In Priestly law, the ultimate purpose of ritual purification was to protect God's sanctuary, the tabernacle, from contamination, Leviticus chapter 15.

The Mikveh, being a shadow of John's baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, (IE. Baptism of Christ) was for purification, not for remission of sin, like that of what Esaias prophesied saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight, Isaiah 40:3. In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand and were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins, Matthew 3:1-6. John said, I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire, Matthew 3:11.

John's water baptism was only for repentance as being prepared for the coming of the Lord as the water represented the washing away of sin, or as John put it "prepare ye the way of the Lord". It is not clear in scripture that Jesus ever baptized anyone in water even though He first came to John's water baptism as a fulfillment of prophecy as He had to identify with humanity even though He had no sin. This was the beginning of Christ ministry as the Holy Spirit fell down on Him that day as God gave Him full power and authority here on earth and there after Jesus went about teaching what God gave Him to speak and do. It was not Jesus who the Pharisees heard that He baptized more than John did, John 4:1-3, but His disciples baptizing others in water for remission of sin after the death of John the Baptist as all together they would have baptized others in water for the remission of sin then John could at one time. Jesus could not baptize anyone in the Holy Spirit until the day of Pentecost after He ascended up to the Father and the Father sent down the indwelling Holy Spirit, Acts 2.

John 3:5 never mentions the word baptize, but says only by being born of water and spirit, which means water as living water, word of God, that no one can enter into the kingdom of God unless they are Spiritually renewed (born again) by the hearing of the word, which is Christ Jesus and by the Holy Spirit that came on them in the OT and indwells us in the NT. Many do read into the passage a preconceived idea or theology, but baptism is never mentioned in this verse. God's word is living water as described in John 4:4-26; 7:37-39; 12:44-50; Ephesians 5:26; 1 John 5:5-8; Jeremiah 17:13; Zechariah 14:8, 9; Rev 21:6-8; Ezekiel 47:22.

If salvation came by actual immersion in water Jesus clearly could have simply stated, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is baptized by being immersed in water and born of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Further, if Jesus had made such a statement, He would have contradicted numerous other Bible passages that make it clear that salvation is by faith (John 3:16; John 3:36; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5).

There is the case of the thief on the cross who repented, the women who was to be stoned for adultery, the women at the well, death bed confessions and even those who are incapacitated that can not be immersed in water. Does this mean they are not saved or born again, no. It means that no dirty river water is going to save anyone, but that it is only a symbol of repentance like that of John the baptist who called those to repent first. There is nothing wrong with being dunked in water, but know that it is only an outward appearance to others of what has already taken place Spiritually within you when you repented, accepted Jesus and was indwelled with the Holy Spirit.

Baptism is not mentioned in John chapter three so why do so many believe we are to be dunked in dirty river water as the water can not bring about Gods salvation, but only by faith do we believe as it comes by Gods grace, Ephesians 2:1-10, as we hear the gospel (word/living water) preached to us.

One needs to hear the word of God, as word being living water, in order to know they have to be born again of the Spirit in order to see and enter the kingdom of God.

So Jn 3:22 says they went to Jerusalem and preached “faith alone”? “Accept Christ as your personal lord and savior”?

By water and the spirit!

Thief on the cross does not apply faith and baptism are the initiation into the new covenant and it is not required until Jesus dies on the cross heb 9:16

Some people think it is being dunked or sprinkled with water the way John the Baptist did and there is nothing wrong with that for it is an outward appearance to man that you have repented and received Jesus and the Holy Spirit into your life, Matthew 3:11, but Jesus himself never baptized with water, John 4:2, for the baptism of Jesus was for receiving the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) that helps us to know the will of the Father, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12.

There is nothing wrong with immersion in water as this is an outward appearance to others that you have received Gods Salvation and the Holy Spirit. When the Disciples where in the upper room they all received the Holy Spirit, not by immersion of water, but by Gods Spirit falling on them. It was not for the receiving Jesus or the Holy Spirit as Jesus ministry hadn’t started yet and the Holy Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost in the upper room. When Jesus was baptized of John it was to fulfill Gods righteousness in Him to receive Gods power and authority to start His ministry here on earth as He had to relate to the humanity of man. The grace of God is only received in the Christian sacrament of baptism

When we first believed we are saved?

Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

How can salvation be nearer than when we first believed if you’re saved by believing?

1 pet 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

How can salvation happen when we first believed if it’s the end?

Where is water involved in what Peter said? John's baptism in water was literal, but only for repenting of your sins, not for receiving Jesus, but preparing the way of the Lord. Being immersed in water was only symbolic of the washing away of sin as water can not save anyone.

Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

No water involved as only by hearing the words Peter preached to them were they then filled with the Holy Spirit, which is the Baptism of Christ. No one can forbid a person to be immersed in water, but they had already received Jesus as Lord and Savior and were baptized in the Spirit.

Act 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Go learn the difference between John the Baptist baptism and that of the Baptism of Christ then you will understand the two are different. Jon said he must decrease and Jesus to increase. John's baptism was only for repenting of ones sin, not for salvation by faith as Christ had not yet come. Repent, prepare you the way of the Lord.

I agree the baptism of John was only for repentance and preparation for Jesus Christ!
