Welcome back Runner , I do remember you. At that time in my life I was running half marathons and 5k’s on a weekly basis.

Things have changed since you’ve last visited. (Please review our community message, it’s what Our community has been striving for).

I’ve also created several forums called safe zones where those forums are managed solely by their overseer, who is pro subject for those topics.

Hello stovebolts,

Would you explain the ‘safe zone’ concept. As examples- Catholicism or Calvinism... does that mean those ideas can’t or shouldn’t be challenged there? What is the intent? What the ‘Overseer’ says, goes?

It means I nor any other Administrator or Moderator has any authority in those forums. They are managed by their own “Overseers” who run them autonomously.

The only criteria I enforce is they must abide by the staff guidelines. Aside from that, they call the shots in their realm.

Ahh. Sorry about that, Jeff. The furthest I've ever run was about 5 miles. This was during basic training in the Royal Air Force. Would never make a track athlete.....far too lazy.

Having said that, at 76 I'm still working, and we have a gym. About two years ago, I asked three of my fellow senior leaders (we don't use the word 'manager') to insist that I use the gym every day, and that I change my diet. I respect them too much refuse. They laughed at me. That Friday evening, one of them - a fitness trainer - sent me a text message. It said: 'Sorry I laughed at you. I expect you in the gym at 6.30am Monday!' Been gyming ever since. Lost 3 stone, and feel a whole lot better. But I'll never make a runner!
Well I’ll tell you, since Covid I’ve really gotten out of shape, especially this year. I switched to bicycling and mountain biking when my hip wouldn’t let me run, but this year I’ve only went on a few very short rides.

I’ve got to get into a routine…. I don’t even know if I could run a mile without feeling horrible!

I applaud you. I'm sure you arrived at these guidelines through necessary trial and error. (pain and suffering).

Also- I clicked into some of those sub forums and saw the guidelines provided-- explained all, thank you.

I used to walk 4 miles a day. Now I walk to the fridge, or the restroom.

Working from home has its advantages, but it has its disadvantages too.
I have waking routes only .Im on a mixed one know .you have seen the ones I photos.the route pic thread is when it was electric and water . The ones I mention with live stock were mixed routes

I use our work's gym bike for cycling (do not trust myself on the road!).

Each of my mentioned gym users are young enough to be my son. Two of them are brothers, and very accomplished cyclists. They make sure I keep to my routine....whether I wish to (on any given day) or not.

I am my greatest enemy when it comes to the bike challenges they set for me.....the persistent wee voice in my head that whispers 'I can't do this, I really can't). I press on in any case. I guess doing each challenge is a lot like beating my head against a stone wall......so nice when it's over, and I can stop!

Hi Runner and welcome back. :wave2

I visited this forum a few years back, but didn’t find it very open to conversation. I never registered or posted, I just read some of the discussions (arguments) and how folks treated each other. I think there was also some sort of requirement to agree with certain doctrinal positions, so I became a passer-by but I guess you could say that I’m “back” as well.

The staff works hard at trying to keep unity among the members as it can be difficult at times, but always to seek reconciliation when members get out of hand. The Community Message and Statement of Faith shows what CF is all about. The Terms of Service (ToS) have been set up as guidelines in the direction we want to see this forum grow as God matures us in His word and that we come to the unity of the Spirit, even if we disagree with others.

This forum has become so much better now then it was a few years ago as it was a battle ground back in the day. I'm glad you are back and know you will be a great asset to CF.

God bless you brother :)

I was here as Runner several years ago, in the era of Reba, Willie T., Pizza, Jethro Bodine, Ozpen and others. As I remember, I was pretty unpopular, which is par for the course in my experience. I "self-banned" for some reason that I don't even recall. I discovered that the Runner name was still available, so I claimed it again - although, at my age (72) Walker might be more appropriate. "Running,: to use the term loosely, is now more like a 10:45 mile.

I'm a retired lawyer and have been a Christian since a fairly startling born-again experience 50+ years ago, although I increasingly find myself questioning and doubting whether what passes for Christianity has much of anything to do with anything Jesus was talking about or had in mind.
Good to have you back Runner.
I agree with what you've stated about Jesus.
See you around...

Like herding cats, as the saying goes.

From what I’ve seen- the place cleaned up nice.

Hi Runner and welcome back. :wave2

It appears that he has been chased off. Is that so?

Also, and perhaps because-- some of his posts were simply removed. Wiped away.

Is that how things work here? Does it take only a committee of one to decide to remove posts?

FHG-- is it that he ruffled your feathers? I'd like to understand.

First, when a thread starts becoming heated, our staff may edit any offending posts that are targeted negatively toward another member or otherwise disrupt the flow. A staff member may address you in the offending thread or in Private Message. You may be sent a system notification with a brief description of why the message was deleted from the staff member who removed your post. If you start to have bad feelings toward your brother or sister during a heated discussion we expect you to take your concern directly to that person in private message (Matthew 18:15). If the staff starts to see personal attacks toward members, we will remove you from the Thread. Subsequent removals may cause you to be removed from the offending Forum. Failure to comply will result in the termination of your account. You may open a private thread in the Talk with the Staff forum if you feel you were treated unfairly.

We understand that heated discussions can lend to the feeling of justification provoking one to act in a way that Jesus never acted. The staff is not here to take theological sides in these types of situations, but rather we are here to maintain a healthy environment that spurs and encourages growth by loving one another.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV) Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things

If you cannot love your brother or Sister, you will be asked to remove yourself from the discussion. If your zeal causes you to loose your self control, you will be removed from the discussion through our forum tools as outlined earlier

With the exception of spam or a an obvious troll, no member will be banned on the sole decision of a single staff member.

Any point given can be discussed with the staff member who issued the warning, or a discussion can be opened in the Talk With The Staff forum.
