Another obstacle we must overcome for eternal life

Most Christians do NOT believe that Scriptures like the following apply to them.
But, they do! … Notice these passages specifically apply to believers …

He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral,
sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns
with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (eternal death).” (Rev 21:7-8)

“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” (Rev 2:10-11).

James 1:12-15 says receiving the crown of life (due to the forsaking of sin)
is the opposite of receiving eternal death.

There are several lists of sins, which Christians must NOT be committing habitually!

Note: If a Christian is sincerely confessing and repenting of his sins (1 John 1:7-2:1),

his sins are being washed away, and he is NOT classified as a habitual sinner.
So, perhaps sincere repentance is of utmost importance to being an overcomer.

WARNING … Anyone who is a habitual (unrepentant) sinner:
• will NOT inherit the kingdom of God …1 Cor 6:9-10, Gal 5:19-21, Eph 5:3-6

• will NOT enter the New Jerusalem … Rev 21:27, Rev 22:14-15
• will NOT avoid the wrath of God … Col 3:5-6
• will NOT avoid the lake of fire … Rev 21:7-8
• will NOT avoid death … Rom 1:29-32
These are LISTS of sins (merely examples) which must be overcome!

Let us review what Jesus means about being an overcomer
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne,
as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev 3:21)

Jesus overcame fleshly temptations, sin, and the Devil.
Did Jesus overcome more than these things?
How about overcoming cowardice when faced with strong persecution and death?

As for us, notice the first item in the Rev 21:7-8 list above … “cowardly”.

So, another obstacle believers must overcome is cowardice when faced with:
1) heavy-duty persecution re: their faith (even leading to physical death)
2) heavy-duty pressure to take the mark of the beast (leading to eternal death)

Let us not be cowards and run from these things!
Let the Lord decide what His will is for us.
Will He supernaturally protect us, or will He have us be martyrs?

IMO, this depends on the strength of our belief-faith-trust,
and our spiritual walk (and holiness) re: overcoming sin.

Rev 21:7-8 warns that cowardice must be overcome to avoid loss of eternal life!

The “sons of God” have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them,
and they are being led by God’s Spirit (Romans 8:14).

And they are to follow His peace when making decisions about everything!

John.. i dont know any Christian who thinks these are anything but sinful... :shrug

Please refer to the issue @ hand ... What do you believe "cowardly" refers to?

Salvation is gained? how does one gain a free gift?
I wrote a very long answer last night for you reba, but it would derail the thread and I don't know how to message it to you privately for you alone. (if you want)

Please send this thread to the dead thread section as it is a stumbling block to my faith.

Yet it is a building block for my faith --- the truth is not comfortable as Yhwh says, and in Hebrews, "discipline is painful " but the ones who are not disciplined are not sons at all! God is faithful to discipline His children, and yes, it is dis-comforting for a time,
but results in LIFE and in RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Yet our lord says, who desires the great and terrible day of the lord. It's not a day that anyone of us will like. But many of you want this day as if you take pleasure in thinking our lord will enjoy bringing people to there end.

we in Christ will be so enthralled, so caught up in HIM, in HIS RETURN, we will not be even thinking of the world being judged so intent will our eyes by on HIM! it is written somewhere that HE IS COMING FOR THOSE WHO ARE EAGERLY WAITING FOR HIM! (and I am one of those!, meanwhile, still doing His Will Daily)

Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Mat 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

We do not change ourselves, the Holy Spirit working in the believer does that. Yes, of coarse we need to not resist His working in us in order to live obedient lives.
But it has always appeared that what you promote is a works salvation view. That's a hard place for anyone to be and can quench the fruit of the Spirit in one's life. It seems to me one either is honest about themselves and guilt sets in or they become the hardest accusers of others being blind to their own imperfect behaviors.
Eventually the Lord exposes them to themselves and sometimes to others.

how in the world, or in heaven , did you get the conclusion that if "one is honest about themselves guilt sets in " ? ?

I totally agree and understand that you were honest with yourself and guilt set in. that is normal. but it is not common with believers who are set free in Yeshua --- instead of guilt setting in, they are set free when they are honest with GOD and with themselves and they repent and do what He says relying on Him in Yeshua's Grace and Faithfulness --- He forgives them, He doesn't impose guilt on those whom He forgives and "blessed is the man(happy, not guilty) to whom Yhwh does not imp///// er;; here it is>>> from safe K9 search online

Nothing like a little guilt feeling to turn one to repentance... :)

A legalistic person can feel guilty and not repent. Their honesty tells them they would be lying to God because they would not change what they did.
A legalistic person can think things like "my wife got special permission from God" there by justifying their own behavior.

The woman at the well's marriages were before she knew the gospel message. She was forgiven, so yes she was exceedly joyful.

good point. if she continued sinning after hearing the gospel, she would have been and felt guilty, hopefully leading to Godly sorrow and repentance so she could be healed.
so many people today have heard and accepted the gospel, but they are told by their pastor or others they listen to that 'everybody does it' so it's okay, but they feel guilty and have to choose whether
to "overcome the obstacle' (sin being one or more , and the obstacle of 'others influence') and repent, or continue unrepentant and be and feel guilty.
