Another "what comes to mind" thread

This time its not a picture but a statement. Similar set up as before though, just put what first comes to mind when you read the statement. Then think about it for 2 minutes and then put anything else that may have come to mind.

Ok? Here we go.....

I love this world

I love this world
"The world is a great place to be ... "

" ... What's to love abut this world? It's lost, dying and doomed!"

The first thing that came to my mind was I don’t love what this world has turned into.

The second thing was Romans 12:1-2:

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Good morning Grazer,

My first thought was this Scripture:

James 4:4

New King James Version (NKJV)

4 Adulterers and<sup class="footnote" value="[<a href=" http:="" www.christianforums.net="" "#fen-nkjv-30342a""="" target="_blank">a]">[a] adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

If I may, my second thought I couldn't find the Scripture, but it went along the lines that we should keep a light touch in the things of this world.

My third thought was the physical world, the Earth and all the things in it, is beautiful and amazing showing me the power of the God Head.

In my search for Scripture, I found this Scripture:

1 John 2:15

New King James Version (NKJV)

Do Not Love the World

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Thats foolish.....................2 min later...................All the lost souls who think like that are misguided

Genesis 1:31 God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good.

We have a task Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

It's time to stop blaming the darkness for being dark. Instead, why don't we ask why the light doesn't shine as bright as it should and make it so!

Amen!

SB is right, IMHO.

If God gave the world to the devil, it wouldn't still exist. He gave it to us, so it is OUR responsibility if it's evil or good. We can't be that worker who spends his time gazing out of the window, counting the hours until he can leave.

God is everywhere, we're just insensitive to his presence. As far as I'm concerned, if I cannot see what's lovable in this world, I am not ready to see His face in the next.

I'm stealing that for my blog!!

... why don't we ask why the light doesn't shine as bright as it should and make it so!

One of the reasons why the light doesn't shine is because men love darkness over the light.

John 3:19-20

New King James Version (NKJV)

19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

To "make it so" I think would mean to look at Jesus and believe in who He is what He has done, then we should love to do what is right.

John 3:21

New King James Version (NKJV)

21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

"... in God," giving all the glory and credit to God.

Ok let's flip the perspective a bit. What would you think if it was God saying these words?

Good morning Grazer,

My first thought was of John 3:16. God has loved this world. I think it's easy to understand that God was referring to man, but if you want to include all His creation, I don't think I'd quibble too much over that. Then these verses came to mind:

Revelation 21:1,5

New King James Version (NKJV)

All Things Made New

21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. ... 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.†And He said to me,[b] “Write, for these words are true and faithful.â€

That's how much God loves the world. He destroys it, and makes all things new.
