Did it make you rich?
It made him richer every time someone bought it.
Joel's not exactly stupid is he.....? = regarding how to bring in his "end time harvest".
Joel's next book is entitled......"How i got Richer by Selling you this next Book Pt 4"
WOW! I can't wait to buy it!

Evil "got here" on earth, because it arrived with the first one found who possessed it.
"iniquity, evil was discovered in LUCIFER", as the first time it occurred.
He was then sent here, and he SPREAD IT as a FATHER to mankind, and we have been practicing it ever since.

John 8:44
Keep trying Kidron!
Not that what you say isn't true.
It just doesn't answer the question.

I think you got this thread mixed up with the one about satan.
Or maybe I did?

Peace

Never realised he was a Christian. Have you ever watched the one with John Sisseroli (I think I got his name right), I really liked that one.

Whenever my like gets out of kilter or I'm struggling the Holy Spirit always "come back to what you know, to what you believe and that is Jesus" shame I'm so thick that the Holy Spirit needs to keep reminding me. Praise God he does though. Very patient with me.
Yes. He is. How else could that movie have been so spiritual? You could tell he really is a believer.
It was also a beautiful movie for the movement and the colors. He's a great director. The actors were perfectly chosen. I can't think of anything about that movie I didn't like. True to scripture...

I don't know that other movie you're speaking of. John Sisseroli? I tried to google him but I get nowhere.
You should see a movie called The Risen. It's also about the resurrection. You'd like it. It's a little bit like Who Moved The Stone.

Wondering

In fact wondering, now that you mention it,
Where has Joel Osteen been in our threads lately?
For that matter, what happened to Bruce Jenner?
Or Kenneth Copeland?
How quickly these guys fade from our memories.
You haven't been around to mix things up.
Too busy reading Joel Olsteen...

Yes. But he's not the only one. All these guys sell books. Joyce Meyers brings in millions every year.
Swaggart needs 4 mil a month just for his TV ministry. Olsteen is the biggest paid motivational speaker in the U.S. At least they've given him his correct title.

BTW, Rollo is just kidding. He's always kidding.
We can't ever know for sure when he's being serious...

Yes, of course, thank you princess obvious:clap
Even the "New bibles" have to be purchased.
The point is, Joel's themes are consistently consistent.
"how to fall in love with yourself"...Volume 45 - 5678.
Joyce on the other hand, as with some others, are not (all the time) about "pop psychology" masquerading as spirituality.
Here is a book's title that you'll never see in Joel's inventory if he lived 100 lifetimes in a row writing them.
"How to win souls".
This is because, ......................................... = right.

Sorry It's Jeremy Sistoe. I think what got me were the following as I remember.

There was a scene where Jews killed Romans. Jesus wept for the Romans who were killed.

The disciples and Jesus were walking along the see of Galilee and had a water fight, laughing and joking (in fact I had to ask my wife, would they have done such a thing. She said yes and my guess is they probably laughed when one of them farted just as you men do.

What really got me was the crucifixion scene. The nails being hammered in, the thump of the cross hitting the ground, the face, the pain as he cried out with that pain.

Worth a watch

Wow. Princess and Miss Goodie Two Shoes all in one thread!
Nice.

You know Kidron, there are people reading along who don't know as much as you do.
But, in my book, Joyce IS a "psychology major." She'll throw in some scripture here and there but she's all about how to make yourself better. I never hear her speaking about the cross, the blood, the sacrifice, salvation economy, etc.

You're right about Olsteen, of course, In fact a girl I know left Christianity because of him. She said she couldn't experience in her life what he was preaching and she lost trust in God.

Haven't ever seen Jesus (1999) which is his movie.
Saw the trailer. Here's what I think. When you have a masterpiece (Jesus of Nazareth) why watch anything else?

Also, I've never seen the crucifixion scene in any movie to date - and probably never will.

Okay. Joel Olsteen could work for some people. For some he could be exactly what brings them to God.
He's obligated to do the sinner's prayer.

I have a problem with preachers that are too positive. What if someone isn't feeling that positiveness?
It makes you feel like you're doing something wrong.

I like balance. Positive, but with the cross mixed in. Jesus said to pick up your cross every day.
Joel makes it seem like there are no crosses. At least, the few times I've heard him, that's what I hear. I can't really listen to him.

Thanks for the kind words.

I actually have no issues with some "self help" theology, as God as in the repair business, of a sort.
Where i separate the elves from the dragons is regarding evangelism.
As THAT has to be at the heart of a Christian's "ministry".
"fishers of men"....that is the bottom line, context, and foundation, = purpose.
So, i dont "hear" this within the "Joel experience: , tho he does a well worn 47 second alter call towards the end of his program.

Happy to oblige.

I agree with you.

I also, however, do agree with my post no. 57.
Of course. I wrote it after all !

Wrg,

Yes, I've read that book years ago. It has the great benefit that it was written by someone who set out to refute the resurrection of Jesus, but ended up writing a book in support of the resurrection - based on the evidence. My edition is 192pp and it is in easily accessible language. There is a review of the book HERE.

He does use some questionable sources in the Gospel of Peter and the Gospel of Hebrews, which are regarded as Gnostic, extra-biblical sources that don't have the same historical validity as, say, Tacitus and Josephus.

Morison's book has become dated as it was first written in 1930. There have been more recent and comprehensive treatments of Jesus' resurrection in books such as:
  • Gary Habermas and Antony Flew 1987. Did Jesus Rise from the Dead? The Resurrection Debate. San Francisco: Harper & Row Publishers.
  • Norman L Geisler 1989/2004. The Battle for the Resurrection. Nashville: Thomas Nelson Publishers. This is one of the most helpful books I've read that deals with relatively contemporary challenges to the resurrection.
  • Ross Clifford 1991. Leading Lawyers Look at the Resurrection. Sutherland, NSW, Australia: An Albatross Book.
  • Hank Hanegraaff 2000. Resurrection. Nashville, Tennessee: Word Publishing (Thomas Nelson Inc.)
  • Massive, but readable, scholarship (817pp, including bibliography & index) is in N T Wright 2003. The Resurrection of the Son of God. Minneapolis: Fortress Press. This is the most brilliant assessment I've every read (haven't read everything yet), but it is probably in too much detail for most folks.
Blessings,
Oz
I would also recommend Jesus' Resurrection: Fact or Figment?, which is based on a live a debate between William Lane Craig and Gerd Ludemann, with others having contributed to the book.

(I've had The Resurrection of the Son of God on my shelf for a few years but haven't gotten to it.)
