Anyone here into archery, compound or recurve?

I haven't ever tried it myself, but I'd really like to, wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a good starter set.

I don't know anything about archery. Don't shoot anyone.
 
I did hear an interesting story once about an old man who had a problem with a kid trespassing over his fence into his lawn, and one day he shot the kid in the back with a crossbow. Crazy old guy.
 
know any hunters? often hunters do some archery and kill deer with the old bow and arrow. my church has a program for boys that has a period where archery is taught. the instructor in it does hunt with his bow.
 
I do know a couple of guys, I just haven't talked to them in a while because they live 3 ish hours away. Out of sight out of mind >_>
