Are you allowed to talk or ask your guardian Angels name?

I heard from numerous places that you can ask them their names and if you are persistant enough they will tell you or give you a sign.....i want to know if it is alright or should i just forget about the notion? :D

Hi K stunna and welcome to the forums. I have been enjoying you inquisitive questions and that is how we learn as we dig deeper into the word of God.

Now for your question. There is nowhere in scripture that I have ever read that states each of us has a personal guardian angel, but God will always send His angels to us for time of ministry and protection as God will never leave us or forsake us, Hebrews 13:5.

There is a case in Zechariah 5:5 where an angel did speak to Zechariah for instruction and we know that Gabriel spoke to Mary about the birth of Christ, but to actually sit down and hold a conversation for conversations sake I do not believe we can talk to them in this way and expect any response. I know some angels have names like Michael, Gabriel and even Lucifer, but not sure if they are all named unless God wants us to know their name. Just knowing we have protective angels is good enough for me as without them I know I would probably not be alive.

There are quite a number of occult practices that all work for you to contact your "spirit guides". The objective is to trick you into thinking you are visualizing some aspect of yourself, an "ascended master", an angel who will guide you, or anything that will get you to participate. There are even practices of writing where you wait for your hand to be guided in writing.

These are all doors into what is called spiritism. Many tribal people still deal with these practices today. I would suggest you get some books by Kurt Koch who collected many case studies of those who were involved with the occult.

There are a variety of traps Satan sets out for Christians in particular. He would entice us into some activity the appears to be religious, holy, or self-sacrificing, but only leads us to elevate ourselves, our preoccupation with ourselves, or other fleshly concern so that we become more distant from our Savior and vulnerable to even further deception.

No is not an "occult" lol....it does not involve in church meetings or services or "Blasphemous Physics", it is you privately asking an Angel its name "NOR ARE YOU PRAYING TO IT", just like you would ask someone their name you do the same with an Angel and to you Tina we might not have a personal guardian but God said we will always be followed by one even if its not the same one......

Maybe....if im lucky one will be friendly enough to tell me its name, i've heard a lot of stories pertaining to how people asked and a name was given to them by Voice and some even said the voice was so loud and powerful they fainted :study

Similar with God, thru prayer we talk to god but since angels are around us all the time we dont need to do that and if that was the case i would NEVER TRY ANYWAYS

Yes, I do believe in and have seen angels but was too scared to ask their name .... :scared

Satan is said to appear and masquerade as an "angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14). We are also cautioned not to believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. (1 John 4:1)

There is a lot of good advice in this post, K! I urge you not to dismiss it.

This "Guardian Angel" stuff bothers me. NO WHERE in the bible will you find a reference to a personal angel (a personal SAVIOUR, sure, but not angel).

The Guardian Angel stuff is at best secular belief, at worst, it borders on the occult.

I guess i'll just forget about it then.....im not sure if i want to deal with demons that would try to pretend to be an angel at all, i dont want an evil spirit following me or talking to me lol

Thanks though, maybe when i have enough experience and faith to be able to "REBUKE" any spirit that comes my way that is tainted

While experience and faith may count for something, remember, it is the faith of the Lord that sustains us.

Let Jesus take on your battles.

Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

If God wants us to know the name of our "guardian" angel, He would have told us to seek it. I agree with the others that say there is no evidence that we are to seek out their name.

The Israelites had a guardian angel and God was not shy about telling us his name.

Dan 10:21 But I will show thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

It was well known among the Hebrews that Michael, the Archangel, was the protective "Prince", their advocate.

you forget the other angel that went to war for them.

we know him as the ANGEL UNTO THE LORD. and we call him Lord and Savior.

the jews call him the metatron.that was his name via the oral traditions and by the gemetria its the same name that jesus said he was(the good sheppard)

I didn't mention Jesus because He is not an angel.

Metatron is as much ancient mythology as it is folklore. I'm just not into the mystical aspect of Judaism and Christian mysticism. :shrug

no but in that context he was a messanger. the word angel cant be denied.

hmm i take it a bit more then folkore as its by that idea and concept that the lord did claim the same name

the metatron by gemetria does also mean lesser YHWH.

I did not know that. :nod
