“Let your light shine before men, that the may see you good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) NKJ
A believer does not have an inherent light; we have a reflective light. We reflect the light of our Lord. Do you reflect the light of your Lord or is our light being downed out by other things.
We lament the killing of Christians in Egypt and the Sudan. We lament the alarming rate of abortion, and we hate gay marriage. These things are just a symptom of a bigger problem. The problem is that Christians will not stand up for the truth of Scripture and stand in the gap for the hurting in the world today.
The Bible says we are the “salt of the earth” and when the salt loses its flavor it is “good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” (Matthew 5:13) NKJ Many Christians have lost their flavor because they will not stand up for what is right. They expect the American Government to do it for them.
We become appalled when our government won’t stand up for some cause that we believe in. Why is it the American government’s job to do that? Isn’t if the responsibility of Christians to stand for righteousness and goodness in society? We should not go to a corrupt government to enforce righteousness when it is our responsibility to do that.
Are you being salt and light in this perverse generation? This does not mean that you vote for your favorite politician or send money to your favorite ministry. I mean do you stand? Is there a hurting person in your community? Do you go and give them food and pray with them?
Is there something going on in the your community that is ungodly? What do you do about it: ignore it, send a letter to your local government official, or do you pray for the Lords guidance and where he wants you to help in the situation? There are many places to serve. All we have to do is look around.
When it comes to unrighteousness and sin it abounds today. The Lord said, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38) NKJ Lord I pray you send labors into the harvest today.
