Are you prolife or prochoice and why.

I am pro-life. I believe that God makes life and each and every unborn child is precious to Him no matter how that life came to pass. Weather it is from a teenage or unwed pregnancy, rape, or incest. Everyone is special to God and He has a reason for that life.

Pro-Life

I had a positive pregnancy test around 3 1/2 weeks with Courtney. When I went for my 1st visit, they did an ultrasound and nothing showed up. My uterus was completely flat, which when pregnant, the ultrasound should show it round (a perfectly round black area on the screen is normal). They told me I had probably miscarried. It was horrible. They did say though that when a pregnancy is progressing that a certain hormone doubles every couple of days. They took blood and had me come back 3 days later. That was the longest and hardest 3 days of my life. I went back, had more blood taken and the "number" had tripled. They did another ultrasound and you could see nothing but a tiny flicker the size of a pencil tip. It was my baby's heart beating at 4 weeks. They said that my pregnancy test showed a positive VERY early along and that's why we saw nothing.

Now, you try telling me that isn't life! That is LIFE. People say that life doesn't begin until 9 weeks after conception. That is just insane!

Here is a site that may just open some eyes to those that are pro-choice:

Warning: VERY GRAPHIC to Pro-lifers. If you are pro-choice and think these are just "fetal tissue", then it shouldn't bother you at all.

There are few things in this world that are flat out wrong, regardless of your religious or moral perspective. Abortion is one of those.

Killing a defenseless unborn child is the epitome of evil. Those in favor of it try to hide behind the fascade of "freedom" and "choice". Without the most basic right, the right to be alive, all other rights are moot. To claim abortion as a right is hypocrisy in the highest degree.

Prochoice.
Because it's necessary and not up to you to make the government tell people what to do with regards to their bodies.

Pro Life!

As was stated before, it is wrong to kill unborn people.

If this is the case, then drugs (all of them) should be legal. After all it is thier body.

This depends entirely upon the definition of a person. I'm prochoice up to ~4 months of pregnancy.

Most pro-life people aren't pro-life.

They are pro-birth.

They aren't at all involved in promoting the things that reduce abortions like teen counseling, adoption programs, and birth control education.

They also aren't involved in social programs that seek to solve all the problems that are caused by bringing children into the world without capable, drug-free, willing and responsible parents.

Most pro-choice people aren't pro-choice.

They are pro-convenience or pro-selfishness.

What a pile of crap, S4L. Obviously this is your perception and nothing more.

I didn't say ALL, Mike.

Maybe "most" wasn't the correct word.

"Some" would have been better.

Yes, "some".....but then again, that could be associated with any group.

Some Christians say the are christian, but they act opposite.

Some atheists say they are an atheist, but they choose without their heart.

Some Agnostics say they are agnostic, but do not choose out of fear.

As Elaine once said on Sienfeld, " Yada-yada-yada."

I don't know what you mean by most of that up there, but I do like Seinfeld.

The use of the term "some" would of been more appropriate for your post above.

But for what reason did you post? "Some" of every group may not express the intentions of the whole. As my examples listed above. This is nothing new.

I didn't vote.

Prochoice is not giving the baby a choice. The baby is seperate from the mothers body. So, the parents nor the government should not get to decide if that baby lves or dies.

Pro-"choice"=Pro-choice for the parents.

The baby has nothing to he can say.

The baby is not a piece of the mothers body, the mother is just the protective shell for the baby to grow, after its life starts at conception.

I've heard the term used saying people use abortion as a convenience, a form of contraception. I doubt this is the case. Abortion is a terrible experience for anyone, and no one would willingly go through it.
Also I believe it you have ~3 abortions there is a chance you will be infertile from that point on. Its obviously a great strain on the body.

The arguements seem to be back to the basic christian vs atheist one. Christians say prolife, atheist say prochoice. I see valid reasons for each (prolife, at what point does a person become alive? Prochoice, who are we to tell a woman how to live, can we force people to keep aids babies, can we ruin more peoples lives?). I definately support an abortion that will save a womans life, but theres too many grey areas to give a straight yes/no. So many possible complications, problems and issues...

It comes down to this:

Christians think everything happens for a reason.

Atheists don't, and feel the need to take action to direct the outcomes of things.

Christians think life at all costs is the only choice.

Atheists think quality of life is what is desired. They don't think life itself is necessarily good in and of itself. For example, an atheist would probably seek an abortion if they found out their child would be severely mentally-retarded or born with a horrible disease that would significantly reduce the chances of their child having a good, happy, (and what they would consider) normal life.

Atheists would think it irresponsible and even immoral to bring an extremely unhealthy child into the world. Christians would think it's their obligation and their moral duty handed-down by God.

It comes down to this:

The atheists are only concerned for their own convenience. If a child is born extremely unhealthy, it would take too much of their time to raise such a child.

That's how you simplify a morally-complex issue. Bravo.
