Maybe for fun you could also do a portrait of your grandson with an earring and give it to them next Christmas, and tell them for the picture he borrowed the earring from his dad...

I'm much better and more practiced at digital art, but I can do traditional. I'm wanting to get more use and practice out of my Copics, particularly in using them to shade. It's a bit more challenging and requires more planning ahead on a physical plane than on a digital one.
