Being a Christian and working in the Film and TV industry.

I love Film and TV (I guess that's why I decided to make a career out of it)

But I have to be honest (I keep my faith a secret to others in this industry), because "believing in God" can get you alienated pretty quickly. Which means no job opportunities.

A gay person or a druggie gets treated a lot better then a GOD lover. It's absurd. The people in this industry are not all there in the head, it's a very judgemental, neurotic industry. Anyone that's worked in it knows exactly what I mean.

I'd love to leave it and do something else, but nothing comes close to the feeling of contentment I get when I'm making a movie. It's hard to explain.

If the Devil actually invented anything on this planet. He invented HOLLYWOOD.

you're preaching to the choir, us outsiders know this by the dysfunctional likes of the spears. lohan, and richie and also hilton.. ad nausem.

Yeah Hollywood is nuts alright, but that is part of it's attraction, the more dirt and anti God it gets, the richer it gets.

I wonder how many conservative Christians are involved in the Hollywood scene but not public about their faith. Seems like the kiss of death unless the person is a legend of the industry.

(example) Robert DuVall. He seems like the exception who is out of reach for those who would want to bring him down.

Kirk Cameron? And look what happened to him. And stephen baldwin. Kiss of death.

You've got more to lose being a christian in the movie industry then in most careers. And so publicly.

Mel Gibson is perhaps the best example.

I guess my thoughts are - if you're going to survive in the entertainment industry as a christian you HAVE to do it through the holy spirit primarily. Not churchianity, not your own ideas, and the closer you walk that line the safer you are, but the more abandoned to trust/faith in God you have to be. The fall can be so steep.
If you go in being willing to lose everything, then you've got nothing to lose, and God has the freedom to work through you how he wants to. But I think you'd have to be so careful, because I think it's safe to say that the Devil has been dismantling the world as we know it very effectivly through hollywood for a long time.

Think about the west 100 years ago. Then 50. Then 30. Then now. Most of that can be traced almost directly to hollywood. It may not be the underlying cause, but it's a very effective tool to bring the consequences of the underlying cause into fruition. And the west has been bringing everyone else down through the same basic rot. They just followed suit.

God is bigger however. Luckily.

If you join a brothel and just work for them cleaning toilets or running the front desk, you're still enabling the results of their actions. You're still guilty. As a christian we're supposed to be a light to the world by following christ. That doesn't necessarily mean shouting it from the rooftops and losing our job. But that does mean making sure that our hands are still clean at the end of the day.

Why don't you pray about it and ask God to show you if what you're doing is ok in his sight. And if not, give him permission to find you something better to do (and don't look back.)

When you dance with the devil, he has that much access to either/and destroy your life and your families lives through your sin or make you look like a fool when you keep one foot in both camps. If you want to walk away or just come clean, you really want to do it through the spirits leading IMO and not some denominations or another persons own opinions, no matter how well meaning and 'good' they might be. A good christian is not God. They're a good christian. Though they might give you excellent support, wise counsel and even powerful prayer. Only God is God.

I hate seeing genuine people and very talented ones suffer in this area through listening to other sheep rather then the shepherd first. It's almost heart wrenching at times.

The world belongs to God, not the devil, ultimatly. But if you want to serve him you have to serve him. That means he gets to call the shots.

My thoughts anyway.
