Being Thankful

The Lord does a lot for me, and I assume he does a lot for everyone else. Do we do an adequate job of showing the Lord our appreciation?

I know I don't, at least not very often. I try to say thanks for what I've been given and brought through when I pray, but sometimes that's more out of ritual and a sense of obligation than actual gratitude.

I find it helpful to remind myself that God didn't transform and save me because I was a good person, but rather did so despite my inherent wickedness. When I remind myself that there was nothing special or good about me pre-salvation, and I'm still most definitely a work in progress now, that seems to make me more appreciative of what God has done for me.

God deserves so much more credit than I give Him. He has done so much for me, and I imagine that includes stuff I don't even realize.

The Lord does much for us that we aren't even aware of until years later.
