Biblical understanding

i am ignorant to any Rule of Faith for Christians. However the Source of Truth, is the Word of God, and what God reveals to whom God reveals.

Unity of Christ in His Church consist of? i know not, i have never seen that.

Scriptures time and again, plainly teaches us to have ONE MIND, to think the SAME things, we have over 120 different denomination in the Christian Faith. How is that UNITY? It's not. As i said, i have never seen it.
Rule or source of our faith is God, fullness of revelation from Christ to His one true church in the apostles eph 4:5 Jude 1:3
Unity is based on faith and baptism
Eph 4:5 1 cor 12:13 Mk 16:16

There is ONLY ONE WAY to get to Heaven, NOT TWO!

To get to Heaven a person must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and accept Him as their Savior and Lord, and repent of their sins and follow Him. There is NO OTHER WAY then this. And there are no exceptions, even if you believe there is.
What about Jesus’s eternal words in scripture Mk 16:16

More over how does an infant who dies before the age of reason get to heaven?
Thanks

Redemption, Justification, Sanctification, and Salvation!

Redemption: 100 percent the work of God, thru the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ! All mankind are redeemed in Christ! Eph 2
Galatians 2:16 3:13
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law...
Christ alone accomplished the redemption of mankind apart from any works on our part!

(Redemption is not Salvation)
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Justification: our acceptance of redemption thru faith and baptism! Become a disciple and member of Christ and His Church! Jn 3:5 acts 2:38 Mk 16:16 He who believes and is baptized shall be saved. 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Sanctification: the life of grace applied to our souls in the sacraments, prayer, virtue and good works, the just living by faith, and faith working thru love! Phil 1:29 called to suffer with Christ.
All done in Christ thru His grace! Jn 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Jn 3:16 believes present tense until the end.

Salvation: a christian in the state if grace at the moment of death we enter into the salvation of the Lord! Mt 24:44-47 faithful servant! Jn 15:1-5 abide in me. Mt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
Heb 6:11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
Heb 4:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
Rom 13:11 ...for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Titus 2:14
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, (redemption) and purify unto himself a peculiar people, (justification / baptism notice purify / wash) Jn 3:5 zealous of good works. (Sanctification) Matt 24:13 endures to the end Shall be saved.
(Salvation)

So then WATER brings them Grace? No it does not.

Water is of the Earth. Living Water is Spiritual Water that one is Baptized with, hence called the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, this is done by Spiritual Water that Jesus provides, NOT physical Earthly water that humans provide.

Water from the Earth can NEVER cleanse a person (Spiritually/washing of sins). EVER! Living Water from Jesus is what Cleanses a person.

Infant baptism does absolutely NOTHING for the infant, but DOES, for the parents with their faulty beliefs in infant baptisms.
The biblical mandate of God’s work of creation!

Water and the spirit!

First creation:

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

(water and the spirit)

Noah:

Gen 8:8 Also he sent forth a dove (representing the spirit) from him…

(Water and the spirit)

Red Sea:

Led thru the waters by the spirit.
Exodus 13:21
And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

(Water and the spirit)

Josuha

Joshua and the people of Israel crossing of the Jordan led by the spirit.

Joshua 1:1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

(Water and the spirit)

Prophecy of the new creation: (new covenant)

Ez 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you…
acts 2:38-39 “this promise”

(Water and the Spirit)

Baptism of Jesus

Jn 1:31 I come baptizing with water. 32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

(Water and the spirit)

New creation by water and the spirit

Jn 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

(Water and the spirit)

Christian sacrament of baptismal regeneration is by: WATER AND THE SPIRIT!

No one is born again by:

“the spirit alone”!
Or
“Faith alone”!

Water AND the spirit is the biblical mandate!

The Christian sacrament* of baptismal regeneration is required for the new covenant and salvation!

*this promise acts 2:38-39 is a sacred oath from God ez 36:25-27 and a sacred oath is a sacrament!

Initiation!!!

Faith & Baptism is the initiation of the new and eternal covenant!

You cannot enter on you’re own or by “faith alone”!

You cannot receive Christ or grace by “faith alone”!

“Accept Christ as you’re personal lord and savior” is fundamentalist tradition not found scripture!

Jn 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

2 pet 1: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Baptismal regeneration a new creation in Christ! 2 Cor 5:17

A sacrament is an oath! A sacred promise from God! Ez 36:25-27
Acts 2:38-39 (this promise)

No baptism no grace!

A sacrament is an outward sign for all men including infants And a gift from God to help us see what he does inwardly and invisibly by his grace!

As grace Washes our souls in the merits of Jesus blood from original and personal sin, so the outward action of washing is visible!

without the outward action the inward action cannot take place!

Jn 3:5 Titus 3:5 water and washing
acts 22:16 wash away your sin!

Jn 3:5 Born again BY water and the spirit! Not by “faith alone”!

They did not go to Jerusalem and preach “accept Christ as you’re personal Lord and savior “

They went to the river (water) and they baptized! Jn 3:22

A covenant requires an outward sign of the inward action of grace!

Ez 36:25 I will sprinkle you with clean water and you shall be made white as snow.

Acts 22:16 washing away your sins.

Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism.

1 pet 3:21 baptism saves you.

You cannot enter on you’re own or by faith alone!

2 pet 1: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Heb 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

Baptism!

God breathed life into Adam, gen 2:7 and we received this life from our fathers!

Christ breathed on the apostles our spiritual fathers, we receive the new covenant life of God’s grace from them thru faith & baptism! Jn 20:21-23 Mk 16:16 acts 8:36-38 eph 2

Born again! Born from above!

'The Father has set his seal' on Christ (John 6:27) and also seals us in him (cf. 2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:23, 4:30). Because this seal indicates the indelible effect of the anointing with the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of Baptism,

Baptism indeed is the seal of eternal life." 87 The faithful Christian who I has "kept the seal" until the end, remaining faithful to the demands of his Baptism, will be able to depart this life "marked with the sign of faith," 88 with his baptismal faith, in expectation of the blessed vision of God - the consummation of faith - and in the hope of resurrection.

St. Paul tells the faithful at Ephesus that they have been “sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.” This is in terms of an indelible character imprinted on the soul in the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. It is not as if this invisible mark is simply decorative. Rather, through it, we are enabled to participate in Christ’s mission and in his offices of priest, prophet, and king. Eph 1:13

Sealed by God eph 1:13 sealed by God (ez 36:25-27) in the ark of salvation by baptism just as Noah was sealed by God in the ark of the flood gen 7:16

1 Pet 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us!
(Ark of Noah a type of the church, member of Christ and his church and salvation by baptism!)
(Outside the ark of Noah none were saved, outside the church (the ark of salvation) none are saved!)

Sealed in the ark, sealed in the church the ark of salvation by God thru baptism!

Christ instituted the holy church for the salvation of all men, (repent and believe the gospel, with the institution of the sacraments to convey grace to sanctify souls!

“Faith alone” accomplishes nothing!
1 cor 13:2 even all faith (alone) without charity avails NOTHING!!!

Faith and baptism!

Scripture says none of the things about “Faith alone”!

2 Peter 1:11
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The Christian sacrament of baptism is the Initiation into the new covenant and must be ministered to you by the apostles!

I agree a person must exercise faith that God sent his only begotten Son to the world of mankind to die for mankind and that God three days after his death resurrected his only begotten Son back to life will get everlasting life. That's how you get eternal life yes.

That is NOT how you GET eternal Life, but is how you accept the free Gift of Eternal Life. Remember the Words of Jesus when He said. Those who endure to the end shall be Saved. So anyone can accept the free Gift of Salvation, that does not mean they are going to endure to the end to actually be Saved and be Granted Eternal Life.

But God chooses some among those who have exercised that faith to be kings, Priest, and judges with Jesus in that heavenly Messianic kingdom

Here is the Truth, All those who are Raptured up to be with Jesus, will be Kings, Priests, and Judges.

Rev_20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign (as Kings, Priests, and Judges) with Him a thousand years.

So not all who exercise that faith will get immortal incorruptible life in heaven with Jesus.

True, these are the 144,000 HUMAN CHILDREN that 1) were NOT Raptured and 2) were protected by Angels through the entire Tribulation Period. These are who the Saints (the raptured ones) will reign over for a thousand years, as their King, their Priest, their Judge. A King because we will be their King to lead them. A priest because we can take petitions for them to the Lord Jesus in the Holy City. A Judge because we will judge all matters of those we are King over.

God chooses who will get life in heaven.

True. But make no mistake about this one thing. Heaven is coming to the Earth. Thy Kingdom Come is what pray. Here is that video i made about that.

So the only way to get to heaven is if God chooses you to be a king, judge, and Priest with Jesus in that heavenly Messianic kingdom to rule over righteous humanity on planet earth

This statement is Truth. The Righteous humanity is the first redeemed of the Lord, these are the 144,000.

Here is my video about my vision of the 144,000:

What about Jesus’s eternal words in scripture Mk 16:16

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

WHICH baptism is being referred to in this verse?

Mat_3:11 I indeed baptize you with water (Baptism 1) unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire (Baptism 2):

TWO (2) Different Baptisms mentioned here. There is even in Scripture a Third talking about the Baptism of the dead. So which one of these Baptism #1 or #2 is being referred to in Mark 16:16?

ph 4:4-5 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

So then there is ONLY ONE BAPTISM that Saves a person. is it Baptism #1 done by water from the earth, or is it Baptism #2 done by Living Water that Jesus provides (Holy Ghost). Which one Saves us?

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized (#2) shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Scriptures interprets Scriptures. Even as i have done above. Believe the Word of God NOT what humans teach.

More over how does an infant who dies before the age of reason get to heaven?

If i told you the Truth, you would not believe it.

my video about If Water Baptism can Save You?

That is NOT how you GET eternal Life, but is how you accept the free Gift of Eternal Life. Remember the Words of Jesus when He said. Those who endure to the end shall be Saved. Here is my video about my vision of the 144,000:

Yes, I agree you have to endure to the end, to be saved.
I disagree that it will be 144,000 humans that will be left on earth after the tribulation and Armageddon. I believe the 144,000 will be those that God chooses to be kings, priests and judges with Jesus in that heavenly Messianic kingdom. These 144,000 will be the one's along with Jesus to rule over the earth, not rule on the earth. I remember that Jesus told his apostles and disciples before he was put to death that the world would not see him again, Jesus said his apostles and disciples would see him, but not the world(John 14:19). Sure enough after Jesus resurrection the only people who saw Jesus were believers, not unbelievers. After Jesus resurrection I haven't found one scripture that shows that a unbeliever saw Jesus. The only ones he appeared to were believers, his apostles and disciples. So I disagree that Jesus will rule on earth, instead I believe he along with the 144,000 will rule over the earth from that heavenly Messianic kingdom.

Infants are devoid of grace without baptism and cannot enter the kingdom of heaven Jn 3:5 if they die before the age of reason
And the Bible does teach infant baptism acts 2:38-39 see below
Thanks
This is wrong Don.
I don't know any denomination that teaches this except for the reformed.
Please double check your info.

What about Jesus’s eternal words in scripture Mk 16:16

More over how does an infant who dies before the age of reason get to heaven?

A baby is born with the fallen nature of man.
But he has not sinned. He has not committed any personal sin and we are responsible only for our own sins.

We're responsible for our sins AFTER the age of reason.

I agree a person must exercise faith that God sent his only begotten Son to the world of mankind to die for mankind and that God three days after his death resurrected his only begotten Son back to life will get everlasting life. That's how you get eternal life yes. So not all who exercise that faith will get immortal incorruptible life in heaven with Jesus. God chooses who will get life in heaven. So the only way to get to heaven is if God chooses you to be a king, judge, and Priest with Jesus in that heavenly Messianic kingdom to rule over righteous humanity on planet earth
Can you be saved without a priest?

Faith and baptism are required for salvation:

Baptism vs faith alone

But also to suffer for the sake of Christ.

James 2:24 justified by work and not by “faith alone”.

James 2:20 Faith without works is dead.

“Faith alone” accomplishes nothing.
“Faith alone” not found in scripture.

Three things are eternal; faith, hope, and charity. 1 cor 13:13

Not “faith alone”.

Jesus Christ is Our salvation:

Truth / doctrine Jn 14:6
Sacrifice / sacraments Jn 1:16-17 Jn 1:29
Christ is in His person is our salvation Lk 2:30

How can it be “faith alone” Christ is not only a doctrine or set of beliefs but He is our Passover sacrifice and He is our salvation, His person, Lk 2:30 I have seen my Salvation!
We must have union with Christ by faith and baptism.

Faith & Love:

Faith:
Intellectual accent to the truths revealed by Christ and taught by His church. Matt 28:19 eph 4:5 Jude 1:3

Love:
Thy will be done: Matt 6:10 heb 10:9

Matt 21:28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.

29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.

30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

Must bear Fruit:

Luke 13:9
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Jn -5:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

1 cor 13:2 not faith alone
Deut 6:5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
1 cor 13:13 THREE things are eternal, faith, hope, and charity.

Faith and baptism required for salvation: Mk 16:16 Matt 28:19 Jn 3:5 & 3:22 acts 2:38-39 acts 8:36-38 acts 22:16 Titus 3:5 1 pet 3:20-21

First of all, John 3:22 doesn't say at any way that infants were baptized. Anyone that says infant baptism was done by Jesus or his apostles have not shown me in scripture where that scripture is. When people talk about a scripture that says all were baptized or that households were baptized are ignoring that you have to exercise faith and repent of sins before being baptized. Being baptized is that outward show that you have died to your former way of life which contradicted how God said you should live and repented and turn your life around and dedicated your life to God and his Christ.
It's always been required that a person understands why they need to be baptized. A person must make a decision concerning what they have heard is the truth and then repent of there former course in life and dedicate themselves to God. Once they have made such a decision they are baptized.
Acts 2:38-39 this promise refers to ez 36:25-27 and says explicitly this promise is to “you’re children”

Infant Baptism is biblical!

Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Promise is to you’re children! Vs 39

This promise made in ez 36
A promise from God is a sacred oath, and a sacred oath is a sacrament!

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Jn 3:5 born again by water and the spirit.

Acts 16:15 entire household baptized! Does not say adults only or except infants!

Ez 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness.

(It does not say adults only or except infants!)
(Scripture does not say anywhere “do not baptized infants”)

Baptism is the Christian initiation sacrament of the new covenant for all men. Matt 28:19 Jn 1:29 Jn 3:16

1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (It does not say except infants!) (but it does say “all”)!

Lk 1:10-11 all people including infants

Thee faith is required for adult baptism.
Mk 16:16 acts 8:36-38

If it’s not possible (as in the case of infants) it’s not required.

But the promise of the parents to raise and educate the child in the faith is required, then the child is confirmed in thee faith at the age of reason.

Repentance is required for adult baptism. Acts 2:38

If there is no personal sin to repent of (as in the case of infants) then it’s not required.

For two thousand years the church founded by Christ on Peter and the apostles has always baptized infants!

Acts 1:8
Witness of Augustine!

It is this one Spirit who makes it possible for an infant to be regenerated . . . when that INFANT is brought to baptism; and it is through this one Spirit that the infant so presented is reborn. For it is not written, "Unless a man be born again by the will of his parents" or "by the faith of those presenting him or ministering to him," but, "Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit." The water, therefore, manifesting exteriorly the sacrament of grace, and the Spirit effecting interiorly the benefit of grace, both regenerate in one Christ that man who was generated in Adam (Letters 98:2 [A.D. 408]).

“The sacrament of baptism is most assuredly the sacrament of regeneration” (ibid., 2:27:43).

“Baptism washes away all, absolutely all, our sins, whether of deed, word, or thought, whether sins original or added, whether knowingly or unknowingly contracted” (Against Two Letters of the Pelagians 3:3:5 [A.D. 420]).

“This is the meaning of the great sacrament of baptism, which is celebrated among us: all who attain to this grace die thereby to sin—as he himself [Jesus] is said to have died to sin because he died in the flesh (that is, ‘in the likeness of sin’)—and they are thereby alive by being reborn in the baptismal font, just as he rose again from the sepulcher. This is the case no matter what the age of the body. For whether it be a newborn infant or a decrepit old man—since no one should be barred from baptism—just so, there is no one who does not die to sin in baptism. Infants die to original sin only; adults, to all those sins which they have added, through their evil living, to the burden they brought with them at birth” (Handbook on Faith, Hope, and Love 13[41] [A.D. 421]).

Dogma:
  1. All the Sacraments of the New Covenant were instituted by Jesus Christ.
  2. There are Seven Sacraments of the New Law.
  3. The Sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for the salvation of mankind
  4. The Baptism of young children is valid and licit.

Thanks

No but it does say being born again means baptismal regeneration

Hi BB
Actually donadams is right that infants and children were baptized after Jesus ascension.
I agree with you that during the time of John the Baptist and then the Apostles infants were not baptized.

We like to say that baptism is an outward sign of an inner condition, but really persons were baptized back then for remission of sins. Matthew 3:11

However, very close to the time that the Apostles were still alive, it became customary to baptize infants too.
It made more sense, back then, however. Parents felt that it was necessary and good for children to be blessed with the Holy Spirit...they did not do this because they thought their children committed sins.

I think it was a nice gesture. Today this wouldn't work because parents are not dedicated to raising children in a Christianly manner with Christian morals and beliefs.

I do believe that Catholics, Lutherans and maybe Anglicans still baptize infants to this day.

Thanks
Acts 2:38-39 refers to what is stated at Joel 2:28-32 about the outpouring of Holy Spirit. The phrase "to all those whom YHWH our God may call to himself" seems to echo the words found at the end of Joel 2:32. So at Acts 2:38-39 God calls people. At Acts the people were stabbed to the heart and asked what they must do, and Peter and the other apostles told them to repent and each one get baptized. Infants don't even understand what repenting means. They don't know the word. And since this scripture is referring to Joel 2:28-32 which is teaching us sons and daughters will prophesy and that everyone who calls on the name of YHWH will be saved. This means those sons and daughters who prophesy and call on the name of YHWH to be saved have to be old enough to understand and old enough to prophesy, old enough to call on the name YHWH. So no Acts 2:38-39 does not teach infant baptism. You can teach all you want that infants can repent and call on the name of God but that's not true. The scriptures have always taught that you must repent of your sins to be baptized. Baptism is a symbol of you dying to your old course of life and dedicating it to the one who die for you Jesus Christ, and living your life for him, no more living to your former way of life.

Show me in the scriptures where infants were baptized. I have not found one scripture. Whenever the scriptures are talking about baptism it says they must repent of their sins which means they had to call on God before being baptized. Infants can't do that.

I doubt I said it was written in the NT.
I said, close to the time of the Apostles.

“He [Jesus] came to save all through himself; all, I say, who through him are reborn in God: infants, and children, and youths, and old men. Therefore he passed through every age, becoming an infant for infants, sanctifying infants; a child for children, sanctifying those who are of that age . . . [so that] he might be the perfect teacher in all things, perfect not only in respect to the setting forth of truth, perfect also in respect to relative age” (Against Heresies 2:22:4 [A.D. 189]).

“Baptize first the children, and if they can speak for themselves let them do so. Otherwise, let their parents or other relatives speak for them” (The Apostolic Tradition 21:16 [A.D. 215]).

“Do you have an infant child? Allow sin no opportunity; rather, let the infant be sanctified from childhood. From his most tender age let him be consecrated by the Spirit. Do you fear the seal [of baptism] because of the weakness of nature? Oh, what a pusillanimous mother and of how little faith!” (Oration on Holy Baptism 40:7 [A.D. 388]).

“You see how many are the benefits of baptism, and some think its heavenly grace consists only in the remission of sins, but we have enumerated ten honors [it bestows]! For this reason we baptize even infants, though they are not defiled by [personal] sins, so that there may be given to them holiness, righteousness, adoption, inheritance, brotherhood with Christ, and that they may be his [Christ’s] members” (Baptismal Catecheses in Augustine, Against Julian 1:6:21 [A.D. 388]).

Hi donadams

No. Does it tell us something different than what the 66 books we now have, tell us about someone's faith?

You see, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned it. I don't need to read 500 accounts of people's faith in God. What I need to read is just one account of the faith that God asks me to have. Personally, I find that God has been pretty clear on that without wasting a lot of our time making the Scriptures some laborious tome that no one reads because it's just too long and boring.

I really don't think you understand the purpose for which God gave us His Scriptures. It wasn't to give us a complete world history as to what everyone on the planet has done to show their faith or love or obedience to Him. So, you're welcome to search the world over for every scrap of writing from 2,000 years ago and prior, and bring everything to light. Publish it in a book and call it the 'Scriptures that are absolutely everything that has ever been written about God prior to Jesus visiting us'. Then send it off to a publisher and get it published and you'll be able to tell everyone that now 2,000 years after the closing of the canon of Scripture ---you know better what God intended us to have.

Go with that!

God bless,
Ted
