Book Suggestions for a 9 yr old

Hey everyone,

Can you please give some Christian book suggestions for my 9 yr old nephew? Perhaps to teach him more about The Bible, Jesus, Christianity...He says he's fed up watching his 13 yr old brother watch rap videos all day and it is making him unfocused. THANK YOU
:pray

does he like narnia, ie prince caspian, the lion, the witch, the wardrobe? those are all books, albeit they may be above his reading level.

Alright, thanks Jason. I just got him an ipod shuffle and am looking for some audio books to download as well. Basically, it's of importance to me that I help him stay on the right track bc his home environment is not the best and I'm trying to sow good seeds in my nephews. As best as I can, anyway....

Thanks :)

He hasnt read Narnia. But I believe it is for 8 yr olds and up. I have not heard of the other books but I'll look them up. Thanks again

if you are using audio books try all the star wars series and there maybe the hobbit and lotr.
the narnia series includes prince caspian and the lion, the witch, and wardrobe, and more(total of six)

Yeah, I saw the Narnia movie. I'll get him the series for Christmas (hoping he gets encouraged to read since that is out of my control). He says he doesn't like Star Wars...so.. :shrug
I found this site: learnoutloud.com
It has a great selection of Christian audiobooks. So. I'm gonna choose from there. I'm so surprised that ITunes had such few choices for Christian youth. Thanks for your help...

Narnia is a good choice. :)

You know you can get audio Bibles. :yes

I am looking for a good audio Bible for kids, actually. I got a few audiobooks from learnoutloud.com including Genesis: The Beginning, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and Heaven for Kids....

Yeah.

Can't say I know too much about the audio Bibles, just that I know they exist. An Audio book on Matthew or Mark would be good, as they have lots of parables and teachings a young kid can understand.
Now when I look back on the early Sunday school days, most of our passages were taken out of these two books. Or parts of Genesis like the flood and Abraham.

Narnia, Narnia, Narnia!
It can not be said enough, these were the first books my mom read, these were the first books I read (we where both around 6 at the time, so 9 should be well old enough for them) and yes there is an entire series of them!
The Lord of the Rings Series is also a FANTASTIC set of books to read, and by Tolkien, who considered C.S. Lewis one of his greatest influences
Having grown up on these and Star Wars Books, that's pretty much all I can offer, as he is not into Star Wars.

And I would stress getting the "Real Thing" for at least the Narnia Series, they are very small books, and not very intimidating at all to pick up and start reading. Heck, I'd even pay for a set and mail it to ya myself if I needed to! these books where pivotal in my reading/comprehension skills development, and having been written by one of the greatest Christian authors of our time, I'm sure they helped in my foundation in the Lord!

Because Narnia is totally a dogma of the Christian faith :lol

Here are a few:

  • Harry Potter Series
A Series of Unfortunate Events (These are REALLY good at getting her to want to be smart)
Twilight Series (Personally I'd rather die than read these, but a kid would probably like them)

cs.lewis is a christian apologetist, and btw dumbleore there is gay. the one reason i no longer watch potter. twilight, not sure i have heard some good and some bad on those.

You could try the kids version of the Left Behind series. If he likes that they also have a teen and adult version. xD A kid focused devotional might also be a nice thing for him. :3
