Wow, I recommend anyone who reads this go to their local library and do a quick reading on basic genetics.

You can't remove mutations from the genome. What would actually happen is rare genetic disorders that your family might be carying can become more prevelant. The smaller the gene pool, the more recessive traits pop up. It's more likely to cause mutation rather than remove them.
 
It is possible to remove harmful recessives from a population by rigorous selection and a lot of time. However, the Darwinist geneticist, Reginald Punnett (of Punnett Square fame) showed that the eugenic ideas of creationists were unrealistic, taking hundreds of generations, even with selective breeding.

There are some species of animals in which sibling mating is the norm. They have very few harmful recessives. For the obvious reason; inbreeding tends to kill many of the offspring, reducing the number of such recessives.

It seems that this strategy is workable at least sometimes, but outbreeding generally works better.
