Cell Phone Mania

Apparently, in a month or so, the Droid will come out with 3D technology. I can't imagine anything in our lives that becomes "old and outdated" as quickly as cell phone.

Cars, TV's, clothing styles, spouses... You name it; nothing seems to come close to the fast-paced (I'm gonna say the "e" word) evolution of the cell phone! We went from bag phones the size of brief cases, to cell phones the size of large cordless, to smaller, to flip style, to QWERTY, to touch pad, to slide out QWERTY with touch pad, and now to 3D. By the time a standard 2-year contract runs out, the customer has seen their phone drop several notches on the latest and greatest ladder.

I know smart phones are very useful in a lot of ways, but our society in general is lapping up new cell phone technology like nothing I've ever seen. We will get by with a computer that serves only to keep us going, but it doesn't seem like many people are willing to get left behind by cell phone advancement.

I have a bottom of the line Blackberry, but it's a Blackberry nonetheless. Still, it's way out of date compared to all the latest gadgets. I don't see this slowing down. Our culture is obsessed with them! :bounce

Yeah, I think cell phones are one of the things that reflect negatively on our society (them and reality TV). Every month there's a new phone with new features that very few, if any, people need. And yet we gobble it up. It bothers me a lot because I'm one of those people who want to buy something that will properly function for 20 years before I have to modernize, which is something very difficult to do with phones.

You have blackberries too? I love them. They grow wild in a field nearby and make great pies when they ripen in the fall.

Oh.... your talking about a telephone!! I have one too. It has buttons with numbers and when I punch in a phone number, it calls that phone and I can talk to the person. I think they told me it will do some other things too, but I never used that. But it even works without an operator and doesn't have a party line. Shazam!!!!

I cant lie, im a tech freak! Ive had 10 phones this year, including 3 blackberries and a droid....the trickl is finding friends who are upgrading or have a phone they bought and dont like. I bought my friends blackberry storm for $25-it was only a month old she just didnt like it. I got my Droid from Verizon refurbished. Someone on twitter sent me their old blackberry for free when my phone died and i bought a blackberry curve off craigslist for $60. I just traded my LG touch with a friend for her ENV 3. I love change and I get a new phone every couple months just because I can. I think technology is awesome and that God gave technology to us as a gift, some ppl just choose to abuse the privilege.

Well I must admit that I am a gadget freak, I just love electronics. I have a Blackberry top of the line 9700, but they have just put one out above it. But I am not to be outdone I am getting a HTC HD7 with windows 7 on it plus it has one of the largest touch screens on the market. And Windows 7 are you kidding me""""I have to have it.

My wife had a Blackberry Curve and I had a Tour (which ended up as my 16 month old daughters so she can take pics of herself). They were both excellent devices on Verizon. Then we're seduced by the Android itself. We both bought Droid X's and they're really nice. One thing I love about it is that they will do just about anything for you other than go grocery shopping for you. The video and images are of decent quality (although calling the video HD is pushing it a bit) and it's easy to send pictures of our daughter to each other whenever we're with her.
The best part for me is being able to listen to radio stations from other markets such as 1010 wins, wysl 1040 am, fox news radio, clark howard, etc.

The phones can be a little buggy but are otherwise very stable. Best of all they're NOT Apple products.
